Jewish Scholarships

Here are some of the Jewish scholarships on our site for which you may qualify.

The Martin Samuelsohn Scholarship for Jewish Students Attending Southern Methodist University School of Law

Established by Martin Samuelsohn to encourage Jewish students to attend his alma mater, Southern Methodist University School of Law. Academic excellence as well as financial need and community involvement will be considered. One $3,900.00 scholarship will be awarded. Scholarship candidates must be enrolled in or applying for full-time study at Southern Methodist University School of Law and will be chosen as worthy for consideration by the School. Candidates must have maintained a minimum Grade Point Average of 3.1, either while at Law School or in their previous course of studies. The Scholarship Committee will interview the candidates, and then evaluate them based on the interview and the following criteria: Academic Excellence - 75%, Financial Need - 20%, Community Involvement - 5%. Education level: Undergraduate seniors or current law students GPA: 3.1 University: Southern Methodist University School of Law Hours enrolled/semester: must be enrolled in or applying for full-time study Giving primarily in Texas.

The Fannie Schaenen Scholarship

Established in memory of long-time donor, Fannie Schaenen, to provide a scholarship for a student enrolled in an institution of higher learning. Both financial need and academic merit are considered. One $575.00 scholarship will be awarded. Jewish and non-Jewish candidates are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Education level: Undergraduate and Graduate students GPA: 3.0 Undergraduate Test Scores: SAT1000or ACT24 Graduate Test Scores: GRE v540 q640 a600 or GMAT v32 q35 or equivalent Areas of involvement: Cultural/religious studies, camps, trips, retreats and organizations. Community/civic activities. School-related activities. Hours enrolled/semester: 12/undergraduate 9/graduate Giving primarily in Texas.

The Mickey and Ruth Schimmel Memorial Scholarship

Established by the family of the late Mickey and Ruth Schimmel in their memory. Scholarships are available for undergraduate or graduate students. Financial need (50%), academic merit (30%), and community involvement (20%) will be considered. Jewish and non-Jewish students are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Two $2,500.00 scholarships will be awarded. Education level: Undergraduate and Graduate students GPA: 3.0 Undergraduate Test Scores: SAT1000or ACT24 Graduate Test Scores: GRE v540 q640 a600 or GMAT v32 q35 or equivalent Areas of involvement: Cultural/religious studies, camps, trips, retreats and organizations. The Edith and Herbert Stehberg Scholarship

The primary source of funds is from the trust established by the Trustees of The Edith and Herbert Stehberg Charitable Trust, and are awarded to undergraduate studies at any private or public (NOT PAROCHIAL OR VOCATIONAL) college or university. Scholastic achievement (60%), financial need (35%) and community involvement (5%) are considered. Jewish and non-Jewish students are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Students must be United States citizens. Up to five scholarship of $2,385.00 will be awarded. Candidates must enroll beginning with the fall semester and must remain eligible to receive the second distribution for the spring semester. Education level: Undergraduate students GPA: 3.0 Test Scores: SAT1000or ACT24 Areas of involvement: Cultural/religious studies, camps, trips, retreats and organizations. Community/civic activities. School-related activities. Hours enrolled/semester: 12 Giving primarily in Texas.

The UBS Corporate Endowment Scholarship

Established by UBS Financial Services Inc. for the purpose of providing need-based academic scholarships to enable students from the Dallas area to fulfill their dreams of attending college. The criteria for eligibility for this scholarship shall be strictly need based. There is no minimum academic grade point average or test score required. Candidates must be enrolled for a full year in an undergraduate program with a minimum of 12 credits. One $400.00 scholarship will be awarded. Both Jewish and non-Jewish students are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Education level: Undergraduate students Areas of involvement: Cultural/religious studies,camps, trips, retreats and organizations. Community/civic activities. School-related activities. Hours enrolled/semester: 12/undergraduate Giving limited to Dallas area, Texas.

Bashert Scholarship

For Puget So LGBTQ students who identify as Jewish and are residents of Washington. Northwest Residency: Applicants must be a resident of Washington but may study elsewhere. Applicants are considered a resident of one of these states if they: currently live within that state and have done so for at least three months prior to the application deadline; or have lived within that state for at least one year at any time within the five years prior to the application deadline; or have lived within that state for more than one year at any time and have been continuously enrolled in an accredited academic institution for the five years prior to the application deadline. LGBTQ Community Involvement: Preference is given to students who are self-identified LGBTQ, members of LGBTQ families, or straight allies who have been strongly supportive of the LGBTQ community. All scholarships emphasize demonstrated commitment to equality and civil rights for all people.
