United States Military Scholarships

Scholarships of $5,000 will be awarded to full-time students pursuing an undergraduate degree in an eligible major and currently enrolled in an accredited Historically Black College or University (HBCU) institution in the United States. Distance-learning or online programs affiliated with one of these institutions are eligible. Candidates must be at least second-year college students, enrolled full time as sophomores or juniors at the time of application. Scholarships of $3,000 will be awarded to full-time graduate students currently working toward a master's degree in an eligible major. Graduate students are not required to be enrolled in an HBCU institution. Distance-learning or online programs will not qualify. Eligibility: NOTE: Degree-seeking candidates must be U.S. citizens. Undergraduate students must be currently enrolled and attending either a two-year or four-year accredited HBCU institution in the United States. Students also may be enrolled in an accredited distance-learning or online degree program affiliated with one of these institutions. Applications will be accepted from qualified sophomore and junior students (minimum second-year students only) enrolled full-time in an eligible degree-seeking program. Eligible majors include the following or related STEM subjects: electrical, aerospace, systems or computer engineering; computer engineering technology; computer information systems; information systems management; computer science; physics; or mathematics. Majors directly related to the support of U.S.intelligence or homeland security enterprises with relevance to the mission of AFCEA will also be eligible. Graduate-level eligible degree programs include the following or related fields of electrical, electronics, chemical, systems or communications engineering; physics; mathematics; computer science; technology management; or information technology. An overall GPA of 3.0 (or equivalent) is required. Special consideration will be given to military enlisted candidates/military veterans. Scholarships of $2,500 are offered to active-duty and honorably discharged U.S. military veterans and reservists and National Guard personnel of the Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan or Iraqi Freedom Operations. Candidates must be actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in an eligible major at accredited two- or four-year institutions in the United States. Distance-learning or online programs affiliated with a major U.S. institution are eligible. Scholarships will be available for the fall and spring semesters. Eligibility: Applications are requested from U.S. Armed Forces and National Guard personnel either currently on active-duty or honorably discharged veterans or reservists who have served in either Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan or Iraqi Freedom. Applicants must be currently enrolled and attending either a two-year or four-year accredited college or university in the United States. Students may also be enrolled in an accredited distance-learning or online degree program affiliated with a major, accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the United States. Applications will be accepted from qualified sophomores and juniors, and senior undergraduate students enrolled either part-time or full-time in an eligible degree program. Candidates must be majoring in the following or related fields: electrical, aerospace, systems or computer engineering; computer engineering technology; computer information systems; information systems management; computer science; physics; mathematics; or science or mathematics education. Majors directly related to the support of U.S. intelligence or homeland security enterprises with relevance to the mission of AFCEA will also be eligible. No minimum GPA requirement. Primary factors considered in the selection process are demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and financial need. A copy of either a Certificate of Service or Discharge Form DD214 will be required. AMVETS annually awards scholarships to veterans/active military, their sons, daughters or grand-children. A son, daughter or grandchild of a deceased veteran is also eligible. Awarded on the basis of academic excellence and financial need, the scholarships go to deserving high school seniors, high school JROTC students and veterans pursuing a higher education. The following scholarships, funded by the AMVETS National Service Foundation, are awarded annually: Six $4,000 scholarships for high school seniors ($1,000 a year of a four-year undergraduate program or at an accredited technical/trade leading to certification or a degree; one selected from each district). Three $4,000 scholarships for veterans ($1,000 a year of a four-year undergraduate program or certification/degree from an accredited technical/trade school; no regard for district boundaries). One $1,000 scholarship for a JROTC high school senior entering any undergraduate program (no regard for district boundaries).

The Council of College and Military Educators (CCME) is pleased to offer $1000 scholarships each year to United States Service members (active duty/veterans) and spouses of Service members who are working towards the completion of higher education degrees. The scholarship eligibility requirements and application process are available July 1 – October 1. Who is eligible for the CCME Scholarships? You must be a United States Service member (active duty/veteran) or spouse of a Service member and is working towards the completion of a higher education degree while attending a CCME membership institution. Is there a GPA or credit hour requirement? Yes. You must have a minimum of 12 or more hours (units) and a cumulative 2.5 GPA if you are seeking an associate or bachelor degree; you must have 6 or more hours (units) and a cumulative 3.0 GPA if you are seeking a graduate degree.
