Scholarship Description
Available to college seniors enrolled in a ABET or ACCE-accredited (or candidate status) undergraduate construction or civil engineering degree program, or to a person possessing an undergraduate degree in construction or civil engineering from such a program. The applicant must be enrolled, or planning to enroll, in a graduate level construction or civil engineering degree program as a full-time student in a graduate degree construction program for the Fall Term. Applicants must have at least one full academic year remaining as of Fall, i.e., at least two more semesters. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or documented permanent resident of the United States (i.e., must possess a green card). The Saul Horowitz, Jr. Memorial Graduate award and the Heffner Scholarships for Graduate Students are $7,500 each, paid in two installments of $3,750. Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic performance, extracurricular activities, employment experience, financial status, and a demonstrated interest in a construction industry career. Applications are reviewed by the Board of Directors of the AGC Foundation. Finalists are selected in January, and are subject to a personal interview with an AGC contractor member representing the AGC Foundation. Recipients are announced at the Annual Convention of the Associated General Contractors of America in March of each year.
