Scholarship Description
This program is open to faculty members at an accredited college or university. Institutional affiliation and citizenship restrictions may apply for some awards or facilities. Fellowships are awarded on the basis of: - the applicant’s research qualifications and interests and their compatibility with the needs and resources of the facility - the applicant’s career goals and commitment to science or engineering reserach - the projected benefit of the experience to the applicant, the applicant’s home institution and the host facility Collaborations that include graduate and/or undergraduate students are encouraged. The fellowship term may be flexible to meet the needs of the research project, the facility and the applicant. Generally, awards are during summer or authorized sabbatical leaves. Renewals are competitive and require reapplication annually. Budge requests may include a stipend up to the faculty member’s certified college/university salary and travel expenses to and from the facility with a modest relocation or housing allowance. A full stipend may be provided only when the fellow is not otherwise supported.
