PLAN/NH Fellowship

Scholarship Description

Grants for $2,500 are available for highly qualified sophomores, juniors and seniors and $5,000 for graduate-level architectural students who are planning to pursue careers aimed at improving the built environment in northern New England.  Undergraduate candidates must be New Hampshire residents currently enrolled in an accredited program at a New England university or college that leads to a degree in architecture, mechanical engineering, interior design, or studio art.  Graduate candidates must be New Hampshire residents enrolled in any NAAB accredited program leading to a masters degree in architecture.  The award may be renewed if the candidate demonstrates high academic achievement and commitment to their discipline.  Funds may be used for any educational expense, including room and board.  Candidates should have achieved a superior grade point average and demonstrated general excellence in their field of study.  In addition to academic achievement, selection criteria stress the following:    a. An activist orientation showing excellent potential for having a   positive effect on the built environment of northern New England.  b. A demonstrated dedication to a life’s work in the chosen field.  c. Leadership experience and the ability to communicate and promote   solutions.  d. Breadth of skills including the flexibility and creativity required to   work with diverse interest groups.  e. Work experience in a related or relevant field.  f. A New England focus that will most likely lead to application of the   candidate’s skills and training to solving problems of the built   environment in New Hampshire or northern New England.
