Scholarship Description
Since 1994, Newhouse Newspapers has sponsored a scholarship program for print journalism students, administered by AAJA. While the scholarship program is open to all students, AAJA especially encourages students from historically underrepresented Asian Pacific American groups to apply, including Southeast Asian, South Asian, Korean, Filipino, and Pacific Islander. One four-year sustaining scholarship of $3,000 will be awarded to a graduating high school senior who declares journalism as his or her major. Students are generally selected based on the following criteria: - commitment to the field of journalism - sensitivity to Asian American issues as demonstrated by community involvement - journalistic ability - scholastic ability - financial need
