Scholarship Description
The Purpose:
This scholarship was established as a permanent tribute to the outstanding contributions of Howard B. Burchell, M.D., Ph.D. to cardiovascular research and teaching. This scholarship will enable a medical student to participate in health science research at a Minnesota institution and to explore the field of research as a career.
Who Is Eligible:
Minnesota Students Only; medical students registered at a teaching institution in the State of Minnesota are eligible for this
award.
How The Scholar Is Selected:
The scholar will be chosen on merit by an American Heart Association, Midwest Affiliate Committee of medical and/or
scientific professionals.
The Scholarship:
The successful candidate will receive a stipend of $4500 for a period of full-time research (usually three months duration) with
the sponsor.
