GFOA Internships

Scholarship Description

The Government Finance Officers Association invites highly motivated undergraduate and graduate students to participate in our Research and Consulting Center’s internship program, focusing upon the following areas: financial management, budgeting, performance measurement, and information technology. The program is designed to provide graduate students an opportunity to complement their academic studies and interests with practical work experience on topics of concern to GFOA’s membership. Interns may work directly with governmental consulting clients, conduct research on government financial management topics and/or write articles or chapters for GFOA publications.

Internships are typically for one full semester (approximately 10-12 weeks). Individuals interested in a longer internship should inquire about opportunities. Applicants should have excellent research, writing, analytic, and computer and interpersonal skills.

Established in 1906, the GFOA is the leading organization serving the needs of state, provincial, and local government finance practitioners in the United States and Canada. The GFOA specializes in enhancing and promoting the professional management of governments for the public benefit. To accomplish this mission, the Research and Consulting Center provides high quality research and advisory services as well as publications and reports that advance the practice of public sector financial management.
