Scholarship Description
Annual Family Law Scholarship Essay Contest and Scholarship Program for Law Students
The essay contest will focus on Domestic Violence in America. The goal of the contest is to increase awareness of the growing issue of domestic violence.
This law school scholarship program will consist of two annual scholarships. All current law students and prospective law students awaiting admission to a law school are eligible. (The law schools must be located within the USA)
Law school students who enter the essay contest will write a 2,500 to 3,500 word essay. The two winning essays will be posted on the cafamilydivorcelawyer.com article section and credit will be given to the winning writers.
The content must be original, in other words the content must not be reproduced from the Internet. We will run a Copyscape search (plagiarism checker) to ensure the content is original and not duplicated from the Internet. By submitting the essay the winners are granting Yanez & Associates permission to post the essay on cafamilydivorcelawyer.com and/or any social media channel. Further, the winners will be required to submit a headshot, which will be used to accompany the essay when it posts.
The Essay Must Be Based Off One Of The Following Five Topics:
• Should parents found guilty of domestic violence have their parental rights terminated?
• 10 Best ways to protect yourself and your family from domestic violence.
• Can domestic violence abusers change their behavior?
• Are children who are victims of domestic violence doomed to repeat the cycle?
• What are some warning signs of a potential domestic violence abuser?
(Please remember that the winning essays will be made public; therefore, you should avoid writing personal sensitive information)
The Prizes For The Winning Essays Are As Follows:
• First Place: $2,000.00
• Second Place: $1,000.00
Student Scholarship Requirements & Rules:
The Law Student Scholarship is open to students enrolled in any JD law program in the United States. Undergraduates and Pre-law Students intending to pursue a law program are also welcomed to submit their essays, provided they will be enrolled at the time the essays are judged.
Who Is Eligible?
To be eligible the student must be:
• 18 years or older and
• Currently enrolled in a Law School or has applied to a Law School and will be enrolled by the time the essays are judged.
