Scholarship Description
Scholarships of $5,000 will be awarded to full-time students pursuing an undergraduate degree in an eligible major and currently enrolled in an accredited Historically Black College or University (HBCU) institution in the United States. Distance-learning or online programs affiliated with one of these institutions are eligible. Candidates must be at least second-year college students, enrolled full time as sophomores or juniors at the time of application.
Scholarships of $3,000 will be awarded to full-time graduate students currently working toward a master’s degree in an eligible major. Graduate students are not required to be enrolled in an HBCU institution. Distance-learning or online programs will not qualify.
Eligibility:
NOTE: Degree-seeking candidates must be U.S. citizens.
Undergraduate students must be currently enrolled and attending either a two-year or four-year accredited HBCU institution in the United States. Students also may be enrolled in an accredited distance-learning or online degree program affiliated with one of these institutions.
Applications will be accepted from qualified sophomore and junior students (minimum second-year students only) enrolled full-time in an eligible degree-seeking program.
Eligible majors include the following or related STEM subjects: electrical, aerospace, systems or computer engineering; computer engineering technology; computer information systems; information systems management; computer science; physics; or mathematics. Majors directly related to the support of U.S.intelligence or homeland security enterprises with relevance to the mission of AFCEA will also be eligible.
Graduate-level eligible degree programs include the following or related fields of electrical, electronics, chemical, systems or communications engineering; physics; mathematics; computer science; technology management; or information technology. An overall GPA of 3.0 (or equivalent) is required.
Special consideration will be given to military enlisted candidates/military veterans.

PLEASE NOTE: In addition to the online application, other required documents include: current transcript issued by the school Registrar’s Office and at least two letters of recommendation from relevant faculty.
