COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP AWARD 2013
ADMINISTRATION GUIDELINES

I. Student Eligibility Criteria
A. The student must be a resident of Allendale, Bamberg, Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton, or Jasper County in South Carolina or Chatham, or Effingham County in Georgia.
B. The student may be entering a post secondary education institution as a first or second-year student.
C. The student must have been accepted to a post secondary education institution and enroll with the intent to pursue an engineering program. Preference will be given to first year students entering a civil engineering or civil engineering technology program, or sophomore students entering a structural engineering major.
D. Second year students must be attending an engineering school in either South Carolina or Georgia.

II. SEA of SC Chapter Member Eligibility
A. Members and/or member firm employees of the Hilton Head Chapter are eligible for the scholarship.
B. Members must be enrolled in a post secondary institution and taking course work toward a degree in structural engineering.

III. Scholarship Stipulations
A. The student must plan to pursue an engineering program at an accredited institution, with preference given to civil engineering or civil engineering technology programs.
B. The student must submit a complete application packet.
C. The student must include a copy of the enrollment agreement from the selected engineering program, or a declaration of a structural engineering major in the case of sophomore students.

IV. Scholarship Selection Process
A. The recipient will be selected by the scholarship committee of the SEA of SC Hilton Head Chapter.
B. Selection will be based on the information contained in the student application packet.

V. Number and Amount of Scholarship
A. A scholarship of $1,500.00 will be awarded for this year. This will be a single year award.

VI. Notification of Scholarship Recipients
A. Public announcement of the scholarship awards to student recipients shall be made and can include news media coverage, newsletters, and public presentation of scholarship certificates. Submitting an application authorizes the publication of the recipient’s name and/or photograph.
