Scholarship Description
The F. Henry Savage, Jr., Scholarship was created in 2006 by Mr. Savage’s widow, Carolyn Savage. Henry Savage was a longtime Par Club/Ouimet Society member who served for many years on the Par Club/OS Executive Committee. He and Mrs. Savage also served as Ouimet Chairs at Wianno Club for many years, where they recruited many Ouimet Society members. They were honored as Ouimet Chairs of the Year in 2001. The Savages were also Ouimet Society Lifetime members. Mr. Savage was a highly respected interior decorator, and one of his last projects was his contribution of decorating the Ouimet Room at the William F. Connell Golf House in 2003. He died in 2004. The F. Henry Savage, Jr. Scholarship is for an Ouimet Scholar from Wianno Club.To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must have completed at least two years service to golf as caddies, helpers in the pro shop, or course superintendent operations at a club in Massachusetts. The awards are “need-based” and assist with tuition at accredited undergraduate institutions.
