Scholarship Description
This scholarship was created by the family of the late John F. Gillis, Sr., who died in 2007. Mr. Gillis was a 40-year employee of General Electric in Lynn and Everett who was known for incredible devotion to family. He was married to Helen Gillis and was great grandfather to 11 children. He lived in West Lynn for many years and then Mashpee, where he was very active in Christ the King Church. The John F. Gillis, Sr. Scholarship will be for an Ouimet Scholar who attends Northeastern University and is a business student.To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must have completed at least two years service to golf as caddies, helpers in the pro shop, or course superintendent operations at a club in Massachusetts. The awards are “need-based” and assist with tuition at accredited undergraduate institutions.
