Scholarship Description
This was created in 2008 by Ouimet Director John F. Gallagher III in honor of his late father, Dr. John F. Gallagher, Jr, who diedin 1982, and uncle, Frank R. Spellman. Mr. Spellman was an investment adviser.The award is for an Ouimet scholar from the Dorchester or other inner-city areas of Boston.To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must have completed at least two years service to golf as caddies, helpers in the pro shop, or course superintendent operations at a club in Massachusetts. The awards are “need-based” and assist with tuition at accredited undergraduate institutions.
