Ray Blue Scholarship

Scholarship Description

The Ray Blue Scholarship was created by his family in 2005. The late Mr. Blue had been a native of Brookline, MA (like FrancisOuimet), and a highly enthusiastic and popular golfer at Charles River Country Club and Woodland Golf Club. He practicedMr. Ouimet’s values, including “gentlemanly play and not necessarily low scores were the important aspects of golf.”Mr. Blue was President of food brokerage companies in Connecticut and Massachusetts and raised nine children with his wife, Priscilla. The Blue Scholarship is for Ouimet Scholars who have worked at Charles River or Woodland or are from Newton and have worked at a nearby club.To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must have completed at least two years service to golf as caddies, helpers in the pro shop, or course superintendent operations at a club in Massachusetts. The awards are “need-based” and assist with tuition at accredited undergraduate institutions.
