Osteopathic Medical Student Scholarship Program

Scholarship Description

Eligibility:  * Consideration is given to residents of the Pacific Northwest (Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington), and to those who have lived, worked, or attended institutions of higher education in the Pacific Northwest.  A commitment to practicing medicine in the Pacific Northwest is important.  * Students must be enrolled in an American Osteopathic Association approved school.  * Students in their 2nd, 3rd or 4th years of medical school will be eligible to receive scholarships.  Applications for these scholarships should be made in students’ 1st, 2nd or 3rd years..  * The Foundation anticipates merit scholarship recipients, upon completion of their medical education, will practice in the Pacific Northwest.  * Scholarships are credited to the student’s medical school business office account.  * Selection criteria include prior and current academic work, professional and community involvement, intention to practice in the Pacific Northwest, and recommendations.  * Scholarship awards are for one year. Recipients who reapply for a second or third scholarship are evaluated equally with all applicants. Prior recipients have no guarantee of continued support.  * There are no restrictions to grant recipients based on race, color, sex, religion, age, physical or mental status, veteran’s status, sexual orientation, national origin or any other status protected under applicable local, state or federal law.  Students with permanent resident status in the United States are eligible for funding.  * No employee, no member of the Board of Directors, and no relative of a current employee or current member of the Board of Directors of the Foundation will be eligible for a merit scholarship.  * The Foundation reserves the right to request additional materials, references, letters of support, and such information necessary to evaluate the student’s application.  * Applications must be postmarked no later than midnight of the application deadline. Applications may be delivered to the Foundation office no later than 4:30 p.m. on the deadline date. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
