Scholarship Description
Dr. Lori M. Fussell and Jerry Fussell are offering a $1,000 scholarship for the selected candidate’s pursuit of a college degree with the goal of empowering women to help solve the technology problems of the future through access to education in the sciences, engineering or aviation. The funds may only be used for academic pursuit and will be awarded directly to the candidate’s school of choice to support tuition expenses or other costs of attendance. The formal scholarship award will be made as part of the Women Soar award ceremony.Selection criteria: Applicant must be a high school junior or senior at the time of the award. Applicants will submit a fact-based technical paper of at least 1,500 words on the subject of the environmental impact of aviation, summarizing the current issue and impact and discuss potential technological solutions to reduce the impact on the environment. (60% of evaluation). Applicants will also provide a brief synopsis of their current accomplishments at the high school level, including GPA for two years, major focus of studies and description of extra-curricular activities. (20% of evaluation). Applicants will also provide a written description of their plans for the future, highlighting colleges of interest, professional aspirations following graduation, and their specific focus and passion for becoming one of society’s innovators.
