Scholarship Description

The Lithuanian Foundation believes that students who are active in their community are developing leadership skills that will benefit them and those around them in the future.  The Foundation concentrates its resources on those students who have demonstrated an involvement and volunteerism in the Lithuanian community or in the community at large.  As such, the Lithuanian Foundation strives to ensure the continuity of the Lithuanian culture and traditions by contributing to the development of future leaders in the Lithuanian community.FUNDING PRIORITIESThe Lithuanian Foundation is an émigré organization.  As such, priorities are given to students studying outside the borders of Lithuania.  In some cases, donor members have established special funds to support areas of study in Lithuania proper.  Students applying from Lithuania must present documentation that tuition is not paid for by the state.RESTRICTIONSThe Lithuanian Foundation grants scholarships for one academic year at a time.  Applicants will need to submit applications each academic year in their degree program. The Foundation will not consider the following types of scholarship requests. 1. Students enrolled in a part-time course of study. Only those enrolled in a full time course of study will be considered.  However, special funding is available for students pursuing studies related to Lithuanian language, Lithuanian history, or Lithuanian folklore at an institution of higher learning.2. Students enrolled in associate or certificate program. Only those pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree program will be considered.  By exception, special funding is available for students pursuing further non-degree training in the medical field of pathology.3. Students not yet accepted by an accredited college, university or other academic institution. Master’s and Doctoral students who have not received their official acceptance letter may apply by presenting documentation that the application process is in progress. 4. Non-citizen applicants without a valid student visa for the country in which they wish to study.5. Lithuanian citizens enrolled in a Bachelor‘s degree program in Lithuania or a foreign country. These applicants will be considered by exception only.  Special funding is available for students from the Karaliaucius/Seiniai region.
