Scholarship Description
Residents of or employed in Calhoun County and enrolled in a nursing baccalaureate program at an accredited Michigan college or university, or the Nursing Program at Kellogg Community college. Applicants must be a permanent resident of or employed in one of the hospitals or medical facilities in Calhoun County and available for personal interview. Must be employed in Calhoun County for at least one year following graduation, or amount of scholarship is to be returned. Financial need, scholastic performance, motivation, recommendations, and length of residency are criteria. In 1978, Dr. George W. & Mars. Veronica Slagle established the Calhoun County Medical Society Alliance Nursing Scholarship Fund to assist area nurses in continuing and achieving their educational dreams. How to Apply: You will need to attach a one to two page typed statement titled CCMSA Nursing Scholarship Essay that describes why you have chosen a career in nursing; college counselor statement; professional letter of recommendation; copy of parents income tax form (if applicable) and projected use of scholarship.
