Scholarship Description
The Alexander Violin Scholarship fund is established through the Baton Rouge Area Foundation to provide cash scholarships to deserving violin and viola students selected by an independent Scholarship Advisory Committee. The scholarships shall be used to help defray the cost of room and board, books and supplies. The scholarship is available to students who have been admitted to the string program at Nicholls State University and is valid for the duration of the four-year undergraduate program. Students will be evaluated according to their audition for entrance into the school of fine arts at Nicholls State University. SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION Scholarships of up to $10,000 may be awarded, the amount to be determined on a case by case basis by the Scholarship Advisory Committee. To maintain the scholarship, the recipient must continue to demonstrate his/her scholastic achievement by earning a minimum of 2.5 grade-point average each semester. The recipient must also continue to demonstrate good character. At the end of each semester, the recipient will provide the Foundation with an official transcript and proof of full-time enrollment for the next semester. The subsequent scholarship check will be issued upon receipt of these materials.
