Scholarship Description
The William E. Buck Bragunier Scholarship for Outstanding Leadership has been established to honor Buck’s memory and unique contributions to AFCEA. Buck devoted over 20 years to AFCEA and the San Diego military community. Scholarships of $2,000 each will be awarded annually to one competitively selected and deserving undergraduate student attending an accredited four-year college or university in the San Diego, California geographical community. Please Note: Distance Learning or On-Line programs are not eligible. Eligibility: Students who meet the criteria for the General Wickham Scholarship are eligible for consideration, provided the school attending is an accredited four-year college or university in the greater San Diego, California geographical area. In addition to meeting the basic requirements, applicants must have an outstanding record of demonstrated leadership within his or her university or local community. The recipient of the William E. Buck Bragunier Scholarship for Outstanding Leadership will be selected from the qualified General Wickham Scholarship applicants. Notification is in June. Candidates must be at least second-year college students, enrolled full time as sophomores or juniors at the time of application and be majoring in the following or related fields of electrical, chemical, systems or aerospace engineering; mathematics; physics; science or mathematics education; technology management; management information systems; or computer science. Majors directly related to the support of U.S. intelligence enterprises or national security with relevance to the mission of AFCEA will also be eligible.
