Scholarship Description
The Kalamazoo Rotary Scholarship, established to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Kalamazoo Rotary Club, primarily provides scholarship assistance for classroom teachers pursuing a master’s degree in the field of education.Eligibility Criteria:Must be an employed classroom teacher who is a resident of Kalamazoo County or a classroom teacher who is employed by a public, private or charter school within Kalamazoo County. Enrolled or planning to enroll full time or part time in a master’s degree program in the field of education at a regionally accredited institution. Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA as an undergraduate if the number of graduate credits earned is less than nine, or a minimum 3.5 GPA as a graduate student. Financial need may be a consideration, but is not a requirement for application.Application Requirements:The following must be submitted to the Kalamazoo Community Foundation:eGRANT scholarship application and cover page (automatically generated by eGRANT upon completion of the application).Activities and Employment History Form must be filled out and attached to the eGRANT application.Essay, not to exceed 500 typewritten words, must be written and attached to the eGRANT application. Address why you merit consideration for this scholarship. Include how extracurricular activities, volunteer experiences and leadership roles have helped to prepare you for your choice of study. In addition, include why you selected your choice of study and your long-term and short-term plans following your master’s degree.
