NBCCF Minority Masters Fellowship

The NBCC Foundation is pleased to announce the application period for the National Board for Certified Counselors Minority Fellowship Program (NBCC MFP). This program is made possible by grants awarded to NBCC by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The NBCC Foundation has been contracted by NBCC to administer 40 master’s-level counseling fellowships of up to $5,000 for mental health counseling students. Eligible applicants must demonstrate knowledge of and experience with racially and ethnically diverse populations, and commit to providing mental health services to underserved minority transition-age youth (16–25) populations. The NBCC MFP will help ensure that the behavioral health needs of all Americans are met, regardless of language or culture, thereby reducing health disparities and improving overall community health and well-being. By strategically promoting and providing fellowships to master’s-level counseling students, the NBCC MFP strengthens the infrastructure that engages diverse individuals in counseling and increases the number of professional counselors providing effective, culturally competent services to underserved populations. Eligibility Requirements: Applicants must be U.S. citizens or have a permanent resident status. Applicants must not receive any other federal funds or work for a federal agency. Applicants must be enrolled in a CACREP-accredited counseling master’s program. Applicants must demonstrate knowledge of and experience with racially and ethnically diverse populations. Applicants must commit to applying for the National Certified Counselor (NCC) credential prior to graduation. Applicants must commit to providing to providing mental health services to underserved minority transition-age youth (16–25) populations for two years post-graduation. African Americans, Alaska Natives, American Indians, Asian Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders are especially encouraged to apply.

Description The NBCC Foundation is pleased to announce the application period for the National Board for Certified Counselors Minority Fellowship Program (NBCC MFP). This program is made possible by grants awarded to NBCC by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The NBCC Foundation has been contracted by NBCC to administer 40 master’s-level counseling fellowships of up to $11,000 for addictions counseling students. Eligible applicants must demonstrate knowledge of and experience with racially and ethnically diverse populations, and commit to providing substance abuse and addictions counseling services to underserved minority populations. The NBCC MFP will help ensure that the behavioral health needs of all Americans are met, regardless of language or culture, thereby reducing health disparities and improving overall community health and well-being. By strategically promoting and providing fellowships to master’s-level counseling students, the NBCC MFP strengthens the infrastructure that engages diverse individuals in counseling and increases the number of professional counselors providing effective, culturally competent services to underserved populations. Applicants must demonstrate knowledge of and experience with racially and ethnically diverse populations. Applicants must commit to applying for the National Certified Counselor (NCC) credential prior to graduation. Applicants must commit to providing addictions counseling services to underserved minority transition-age youth (16–25) populations for two years post-graduation. African Americans, Alaska Natives, American Indians, Asian Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders are especially encouraged to apply.

NBCC Minority Fellowship Program (MFP)

Description The NBCC Foundation is pleased to announce the application period for the National Board for Certified Counselors Minority Fellowship Program (NBCC MFP). This program is made possible by a grant awarded to NBCC by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The NBCC Foundation has been contracted by NBCC to administer 23 doctoral-level counseling fellowships of up to $20,000. Eligible applicants must demonstrate knowledge of and experience with racially and ethnically diverse populations, and commit to providing mental health and/or substance abuse and addictions counseling services to underserved minority populations The National Board for Certified Counselors and Affiliates (NBCC) received its first MFP grant award in August 2012. The NBCC MFP will help ensure that the behavioral health needs of all Americans are met, regardless of language or culture, thereby reducing health disparities and improving overall community health and well-being. By strategically promoting and providing fellowships to master’s-level counseling students, the NBCC MFP strengthens the infrastructure that engages diverse individuals in counseling and increases the number of professional counselors providing effective, culturally competent services to underserved populations. Eligibility Requirements: Applicants must be U.S. citizens or have a permanent resident status. Applicants must not receive any other federal funds or work for a federal agency. Applicants must currently hold the National Certified Counselor (NCC) credential and be in good standing. *Individuals who do not hold the NCC credential may apply if they can document all of the following: a full state license as a professional counselor; a passing score on the National Counselor Examination for Licensure and Certification (NCE), the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE) or an NBCC-accepted state licensure examination; and a commitment to obtain the NCC within three months if awarded a fellowship. Applicants must be enrolled full time and be in good standing in a CACREP-accredited doctoral-level counseling program. Applicants must have demonstrated knowledge and experience with racially and ethnically diverse populations. Applicants must commit to provide mental health and substance abuse services to underserved minority populations in the private nonprofit and public sectors. Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) Scholarship

Description The NBCC Foundation is pleased to announce the Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) scholarships. These scholarships are made possible by generous corporate support from the Center for Credentialing & Education (CCE). The goal of this scholarship program is to increase the number of available professional counselors providing quality career development services. In doing so, the GCDF scholarship program plays an important role in the Foundation’s mission to leverage the power of counseling by strategically focusing resources for positive change. Each year, the Foundation awards $5,000 scholarships to one U.S. GCDF and one GCDF or GCDF student outside of the United States. Eligibility requirements include the following: U.S. applicants for the GCDF scholarship must hold an active GCDF credential in good standing and be enrolled in a master’s-level program accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs (CACREP). International applicants must either hold an active GCDF credential in good standing and be enrolled in an advanced education program in counseling or be a student currently enrolled in both a GCDF training program and a postbachelor’s counseling program, as appropriate to their country. STEM Scholarships

The NSHSS Foundation provides STEM scholarships for underrepresented groups in order to help reduce financial barriers for those with academic and leadership potential and the desire to pursue STEM careers. We recognize that in order to increase diversity in the technology workforce, we must increase diversity in undergraduates. The Foundation awards scholarships to applicants who are pursuing a degree in, or closely related to, one of the following STEM disciplines: Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering Biosciences/Pre-med/health-related fields Chemical Engineering Chemistry Civil Engineering Cognitive, Neural, and Behavioral Sciences Computer and Computational Sciences, including Statistics and Accounting Electrical Engineering Geosciences Information Sciences Materials Science and Engineering Mathematics Mechanical Engineering Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering Nuclear Engineering Oceanography Operations Research Physics Teaching in STEM areas
