Here are some of the Print Journalism scholarships on our site for which you may qualify.
Loreen Arbus Focus on Disability Journalist Scholarship
This journalist scholarship program consists of one $2,500 scholarship, made payable directly to the winning student’s
educational institute. The winning student must also be able to attend AWMF’s Gracies Awards Luncheon on June 22, 2015 in
New York City to receive the scholarship. Female undergraduate and graduate students studying media, journalism, English,
communications and related fields are encouraged to apply.
Submission Requirements: Please submit a writing piece of 750 to 1,000 words, focusing on the theme Opening Doors to
Opportunity for 25 Years. The piece should center on the accomplishments that have taken place since ADA passed in 1990 and the differences it has made in the lives of people with disabilities. The piece can be written in first or third person. If you have a personal connection to the subject matter, please indicate either within the essay or via cover sheet. Some questions to keep in mind when composing your piece:
What was the culture like prior to the signing of the ADA? Societal views, mobility, advocacy, etc.
What were some of the challenges that people with disabilities experienced?
What is it like now, 25 years later? What are the differences/advancements?
How have the views of Americans changed toward those with disabilities?
Application Requirements:
You must be a full-time, female undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited college or university. Please include with
your submission (via cover page or otherwise) the following information in its entirety:

A copy of a valid student ID and/or other proof of enrollment

Dairy Farmers of America Scholarships
At Dairy Farmers of America, we believe it is important to invest in the next generation of leaders to ensure a bright future for the dairy industry. That is why we established the DFA Cares Foundation Scholarship Program.
The Foundation awards scholarships to three categories of students:
Incoming freshmen: High school seniors or recent graduates who have been accepted to college, but have not yet started classes
Undergraduate students: Students who are currently participating in an associate’s or bachelor’s degree program, but have not yet graduated
Graduate/professional students: Students enrolled in a graduate or professional degree program

AAJA/Cox Foundation Scholarship
1. Must be pursuing a career in either print, broadcast or photojournalism. 2. Must have sensitivity to Asian American and Pacific Islander issues as demonstrated by community involvement. 3. Must have at least 12 units. AAJA/S.I. Newhouse Foundation Scholarship
1. Must be pursuing a career in print journalism. 2. Must have sensitivity to Asian American and Pacific Islander issues as demonstrated by community involvement. 3. Must be a full-time student. Childrens Advocacy Institute: Child Welfare Scholarship & Journalism Award
Giving scholarships to individuals for higher education in the field of media, journalism/publishing. Please contact the foundation through letter for more information. Limited to residents of California.
National AAJA General Scholarship
Awards of up to $2,000 will be awarded to outstanding students pursuing careers in print, broadcast journalism, or photo journalism. To be eligible for any of the scholarship programs, a student must be a graduating high school senior, undergraduate or graduate students enrolled full-time in an accredited college or university. Students are generally selected based on the following criteria: - commitment to the field of journalism - sensitivity to Asian American issues as demonstrated by community involvement - journalistic ability - scholastic ability - financial need
Reader's Digest Foundation Scholarship

Hearst Journalism Awards Program
The Hearst Journalism Awards Program, was founded in 1960, to provide support, encouragement, and assistance to journalism education at the college and university level. The program awards scholarships to students for outstanding performance in college-level journalism, with matching grants to the students' schools. The 54th annual program offering up to $500,000 in awards, consists of five monthly writing competitions, two photojournalism competitions, three broadcast news competitions (one in radio and two in television), and four multimedia competitions - with championship finals in all divisions.
Participation in the program is open to undergraduate journalism majors currently enrolled in ACEJMC - accredited domestic universities. An exception to the journalism major rule is made for students entering the photojournalism competitions. Entrants must be actively involved in campus media and must have published articles, photographs or produced newscasts or multimedia pieces that can be submitted in our writing, photojournalism, broadcast news and/or multimedia competitions.

High School Minority Scholarship
The Ohio Newspapers Foundation will award a $1,500 scholarship to a minority high school senior in Ohio who plans to pursue a newspaper journalism career.Eligibility * Applicant must be a graduating senior at an Ohio high school. Awardee must be enrolled as college freshman at an Ohio college or university for the school year. * A minimum high school grade point average of 2.5 (C+) is required. The student’s high school transcripts must accompany the application. * Applicants must be African American, Hispanic, Asian American or American Indian. * Application form must be typed or printed legibly by the applicant. (The application form on the reverse side may be photocopied). * Students must demonstrate the ability to write clearly in an autobiography of 750 to 1,000 words describing academic and career interests, awards, extracurricular activities and any journalism-related activities. * Applications must be accompanied by two letters of recommendation from high school faculty members familiar with the student’s work and career interests. * Students may provide additional information such as samples or articles that have been published (limit to two, please).
Ruben Salazar Scholarship Program
Requirements: * Applicants must be high school seniors, college undergraduates, or first-year graduate students who are pursuing careers in English or Spanish-language print, photo, broadcast, or online media. * See website for additional information
AAJA/Cox Foundation Scholarship
Awards of up to $2,500 to students pursuing careers in print, broadcast or photo journalism. Each year, AAJA offers scholarships to outstanding high school seniors and undergraduate and graduate students. Students are selected based on the following criteria: Commitment to the field of journalism. Sensitivity to Asian American and Pacific Islander issues as demonstrated by community involvement. University Journalism Scholarships
The Ohio Newspapers Foundation will award three scholarships of $1,500 each to students who are enrolled in an Ohio college or university and majoring in journalism or an equivalent degree program. Applicants are not limited to, but preference will be given to students demonstrating a career commitment to newspaper journalism.Eligibility * Applicant must be enrolled as a sophomore, junior or senior at an Ohio college or university. * A minimum grade point average of 2.5 (C+) is required. The student’s college transcript must accompany the application. * Application form must be typed or printed legibly by the applicant. (The application form on the reverse side may be photocopied). * Student must demonstrate the ability to write clearly in an autobiography of 750 to 1,000 words describing academic and career interests, awards, extracurricular activities and any journalism- related activities. Emphasis should be given to newspaper or print journalism. * Application must be accompanied by two letters of recommendation from college or university faculty members familiar with the student’s work and career interests. * Student should provide writing samples or articles that have been published.
