APS/IBM Research Internship for Undergraduate Women
The American Physical Society and IBM co-sponsor a research internship program for undergraduate women. The goal is to encourage women students to pursue graduate studies in science and engineering.Eligibility * Must be female with sophomore or junior standing at a U.S. college or university at the time of application * Must be majoring in chemistry, physics, materials science or engineering, computer science or engineering, chemical, electrical, mechanical engineering * Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA * No citizenship restriction.
The Graduate Fellowship Award
Eligible applicants for Hertz Fellowships must be students of the applied physical, biological and engineering sciences who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States of America, and who are willing to morally commit to make their skills available to the United States in time of national emergency (see our Moral Commitment section).College seniors wishing to pursue the Ph.D. degree in any of the fields of particular interest to the Foundation, as well as graduate students already in the process of doing so, may apply.We screen Fellowship applicants for qualities the Foundation believes are essential ingredients of future professional accomplishment and/or reasonably reliable leading indicators of future professional success. The Mikkelson Foundation Scholarship Fund
The Mikkelson Foundation Scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding graduate of a Colorado high school who has been accepted to pursue a course of study or instruction at an accredited college or university granting undergraduate and/or graduate degrees. The recipient will be a student who has demonstrated an ability to excel in the academic disciplines of mathematics and science, who will major in engineering, physical or biological sciences, or mathematics, and who has the potential for substantial additional achievement after graduation.The Mikkelson Foundation will provide two scholarships of $3000.00. The recipients will be eligible to receive a like sum each year (up to a maximum of four years) that they remain a student in good standing at their college or university.Eligibility for The Mikkelson Foundation Scholarship 1. The applicant must be graduating from a Colorado high school. 2. The applicant will be studying engineering, mathematics, or science (physical sciences, chemistry, or biology) at an accredited four year college or university. 3. The applicant will be beginning his/her studies in the fall. 4. The applicant must have an unweighted GPA of at least 3.7. 5. The applicant must have a cumulative SAT score of at least 1800 or a composite ACT score of at least 28.
C. Bertrand and Marian Othmer Schultz Collegiate Scholarship
The Nebraska Academy of Sciences is accepting applications for a new collegiate scholarship in memory of C. Bertrand and Marian Othmer Schultz. This scholarship will be awarded each fall to a Junior or Senior enrolled in an accredited college or university in the state of Nebraska. The applicant must have a declared major in a natural science discipline (chemistry, physics, biology, geology) and be anticipating a career in a science related industry, science teaching or scientific research.The scholarship offered is $3000, potentially renewable for one year if the recipient is a Junior. Application due date is February 1 and the scholarship will be paid out in two installments, ½ during each semester of the following academic year. Scholarship applications will be reviewed by the scholarship committee. Scholarship renewals will also be reviewed on a case by case basis. Scholarship recipients must show progress toward their career goals and the scholarship is not automatically renewed.
Jerry R. Witt Scholarship in the Natural Sciences
Mr. Witt was a member of the Marshfield High School class of1953. He is now retired after a career as Professor of Chemistryat Winona State University.Eligibility: A graduating senior of Marshfield High School enrolling in a state-supported institution and planning to major in the natural sciences (includes chemistry, physics, geology, astronomy, and biology.) Financial need is a consideration.
