Department of Veterans Affairs Health Professional Scholarship
The Health Professional Scholarship Program Offers awards to nursing students enrolled full-time or accepted for enrollment in an NLN-accredited nursing program. Recipients must agree to be employed as full-time licensed professionals in a VA medical center for a two-year service obligation. Benefits include funds for tuition and fees, other educational expenses, and a monthly stipend.
Ding's Daughters and Sons Health Careers Scholarships
Open to students accepted to/enrolled in an accredited US or Canadian four-year or graduate school. RN candidates must have completed first year of program. Send SASE. Amount Awarded: $500 to $1,000 Duration: 1 year.
Distinguished Research Lectureship Award
To recognize and reward a researcher who presents the annual Distinguished Research Lecture at the National Teaching Institute and Critical Care Exposition of AACN. Number Awarded: 1 each year. Duration: Annually. Eligibility: Candidates for this award may be nominated by an association member, committee member, committee chairperson, or member of the board of directors. Nominees should be nationally-recognized nurse researchers, known for publications, presentations, and mentorship in research relevant to acute and critical care.
Doctoral Degree Scholarships in Cancer Nursing
To provide financial assistance to graduate students pursuing a doctoral degree in cancer nursing. Amount Awarded: $15000 Number Awarded: Varies each year. Duration: 1 to 4 years. Eligibility: This program is open to registered nurses with a current license to practice who are enrolled in or applying to a doctoral degree program in cancer nursing at an academic institution within the United States. The institution must offer an organized multidisciplinary program in cancer control or cancer care that allows a student the flexiblity to develop educational and research activities related to cancer nursing. Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents; be committed to pursuing studies full time; have had experience in professional nursing; be involved in professional organizations; be involved in the American Cancer Society and other volunteer programs; have published or contributed to publications and creative works; have received professional and personal awards and honors; have clear, explicit, and realistic professional goals; have considered geographic location and financial needs as well as program components in selecting a doctoral program; have conducted or plan to conduct research that is meritorious, methodologically sound, and relevant to cancer nursing; have identified a faculty sponsor who is experienced in their area of study and will provide guidance in academic and research activities; have selected a doctoral program that will support their professional goals and research; and have made a career commitment to cancer nursing. They must be preparing to work in the following fields or cancer nursing: research, education, administration, or clinical practice.
Doctoral Education NP Scholarship
To provide financial assistance to members of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) who are pursuing a doctoral degree. Amount Awarded: $1200 Number Awarded: 1 each year. Duration: 1 year. Eligibility: This program is open to student and full members of the academy who are pursuing a doctoral degree and have a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Applicants must be currently licensed practicing NPs in the United States. They must have completed at least 25 percent but no more than 75 percent of their doctoral program requirements. Additional Information: There is a $10 application fee.
Dorothy Graham Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded annually to South Dakota residents attending accredited 4-year nursing programs in South Dakota. Applicants must have at least 24 credits before applying to the scholarship. The amount of the award varies from year to year.
E. Eugene Waide, M.D. Memorial Scholarship
To provide financial assistance to currently-enrolled college students from selected northern counties in Texas who are majoring in nursing or a medical field. Duration: 1 year. Eligibility: This program is open to currently-enrolled college students in the following northern Texas counties: Hansford, Hutchinson, Roberts, Hemphill, Ochiltree, and Lipscomb.
Educational Advancement Scholarships for BSN Students
To assist members of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) who are working on a bachelor's degree in nursing. Amount Awarded: $1500 Duration: 1 year; recipients may reapply. Eligibility: Registered nurses who are current members of the association and enrolled in an accredited program in nursing leading to a BSN degree are eligible to apply. This program is open to nurses who hold an active RN license and are currently working in critical care or have 1 year's experience in the last 3 years. They must have a GPA of 3.0 or better and plan to hold junior or upper-division status in the fall semester. As part of the application process, they must describe their contributions to critical care nursing, including work, community, and profession-related activities. Qualified ethnic minority candidates receive at least 20 percent of these awards.
Educational Advancement Scholarships for Generic Students
To assist members of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) who are working on a bachelor's degree in nursing. Amount Awarded: $1500 Duration: 1 year; recipients may reapply. Eligibility: This program is open to current members of the AACN or National Student Nurses' Association (NSNA) who have a GPA or 3.0 or higher and are enrolled in an accredited BSN program. Applicants must not yet be licensed as an LVN or LPN. They must be entering their junior or senior year. Qualified ethnic minority candidates receive at least 20 percent of these awards. Educational Advancement Scholarships for Graduate Students
To assist members of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) who are working on a graduate degree in nursing. Amount Awarded: $1500 Duration: 1 year; recipients may reapply. Eligibility: Registered nurses who are current members of the association and enrolled in an accredited program in nursing leading to a master's or doctoral degree are eligible to apply. This program is open to nurses who hold an active RN license and are currently working in critical care or have 1 year's experience in the last 3 years. They must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better and must provide a 2-page exemplar.
Edwards Medical Supply Scholarship for Continuing Education
To provide financial assistance to occupational and environment health nurses who are interested in pursuing continuing education. Amount Awarded: $1500 Number Awarded: 2 each year. Eligibility: This program is open to occupational and environmental health nurses who wish to participate in a continuing education activity that will further their professional development and continued competence. Selection is based on a statement of career goals as they pertain to the applicant's professional development and continued competence, how the continuing education activity will further the applicant's goals, commitment to ongoing continuing education activities, a letter of support, and financial need. Additional Information: These scholarships are not intended to supplement tuition in an academic program.
Eight and Forty Lung and Respiratory Disease Nursing Scholarship
To provide financial assistance to registered nurses who wish to prepare for advanced positions in supervision, administration, or teaching. Amount Awarded: $2500 Number Awarded: Varies each year. Duration: 1 year. Eligibility: This program is open to registered nurses who are graduates of an accredited school of nursing and who wish to continue their studies in the field of lung and respiratory disease nursing on either a full-time or part-time basis. Awards are based on personal and academic qualifications, especially past experience and future employment prospects as they relate to lung and respiratory disease nursing. US citizenship required. Additional Information: The Eight and Forty was organized by members of the American Legion Auxiliary in 1922; it began awarding these scholarships in 1957.
