Nursing Scholarships

Here are some of the Nursing scholarships on our site for which you may qualify.

Bristol-Myers Squibb Oncology Division Thomas Jordan Doctoral Scholarship

To provide financial assistance for doctoral studies in oncology nursing. Amount Awarded: $3000 Number Awarded: 1 each year. Duration: 1 year. Eligibility: Candidates must be registered nurses with a demonstrated interest in and commitment to oncology nursing; be enrolled in or applying to a doctoral nursing degree program or related program; and never have received a doctoral scholarship from the Oncology Nursing Foundation. Additional Information: At the end of each year of scholarship participation, recipients must submit a summary of their educational activities.

Bristol-Myers Squibb Oncology Division Chapter Research Grant

To provide funding for oncology nursing research supported by ONC chapters. Number Awarded: 1 each year. Eligibility: The applicant must be an RN actively involved in some aspect of cancer patient care, education, or research; must have the support of an ONS chapter; and must submit a proposal dealing with oncology nursing practice. Involvement of the ONS chapter in the planning and implementation of the study should be evident in the proposal.

Bristol-Myers Squibb Oncology Division Community Health Research Grant

To provide funding for nursing research in community-based health agencies. Number Awarded: 1 each year. Eligibility: The principal investigator must be employed full time as an RN in a community-based agency. The proposed research must relate to community-based health projects.

Bristol-Myers Squibb Oncology Division Distinguished Researcher Award

To recognize and reward members of ONS who have conducted or promoted research that has enhanced the science and practice of oncology nursing. Amount Awarded: $3000 Number Awarded: 1 each year. Duration: Annually. Eligibility: Candidates must be members of the society who have earned a doctorate in nursing or a related field. In addition, they must have demonstrated outstanding and significant contributions to oncology nursing research, have a strong record of quality and major oncology research, have a sustained published record of oncology research, and be able to document contributions to cancer research and related nursing. Additional Information: A reception is held at the ONS congress in honor of the awardee. The awardee must deliver an address to at the ONS congress.

Bristol-Myers Squibb Oncology Division Research Grant

To provide funding for research in oncology nursing to improve cancer patient care. Number Awarded: 1 each year. Eligibility: The applicant must be an RN actively involved in some aspect of cancer patient care, education, or research. The proposed research must relate to cancer patient care.

California ENA State Council Undergraduate Scholarships

To provide financial assistance for baccalaureate study to nurses who are members of the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA). Amount Awarded: $2000 Number Awarded: Varies each year. Duration: 1 year. Eligibility: This program is open to nurses who are pursuing a bachelor's degree. Applicants must have been members of the association for at least 12 months. Additional Information: Funding for this scholarship is provided by various contributors to the ENA Foundation. It is named in honor of the state whose members contributed the largest sum in donations to the foundation during the previous year, but it is open to all ENA members.

California Health Professions Education Scholarship Program

To provide loans-for-service to health professionals who are practicing direct patient care in medically underserved areas of California. Amount Awarded: $10000 Number Awarded: Varies each year. Duration: 1 year; may be renewed for 1 additional year. Eligibility: Applicants must agree to practice nursing in direct patient care for at least 2 years in a medically underserved area in California. Selection is based on work experience in a medically underserved area; community background; career goals; prior academic performance; potential for future academic success; and financial need. US citizenship or permanent resident status is required. Additional Information: Recipients of these scholarships must enter into a contract with the California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development to provide direct patient care in a medically underserved area or facility for 2 years. If the recipient fails to carry out that service and breaches the contract, the office is entitled to recover funds already paid to the recipient plus interest.

California Registered Nurse Education Scholarship Program

To provide loans-for-service to baccalaureate degree nursing students in California who are members of demographically underrepresented and economically disadvantaged groups and willing to practice in a medically underserved area of California. Amount Awarded: $8000 Number Awarded: Varies each year. Duration: 1 year: may be renewed for 1 additional year. Eligibility: This program is open to students accepted or enrolled in a baccalaureate degree nursing program in California. Applicants must agree to practice nursing in direct patient care for at least 2 years in a medically underserved area in California. Selection is based on work experience in a medically underserved area; community background; career goals; prior academic performance; potential for future academic success; and financial need. Preference is given to 1) applicants who have graduated from an associate degree nursing program and 2) full-time students or part-time students who can complete their baccalaureate degree requirements within the next 2 years. US citizenship or permanent resident status is required. Additional Information: Recipients of the scholarships must enter into a contract with the California Office Statewide Health Planning and Development to provide direct patient care in a medically underserved area or facility for 2 years. If the recipient fails to carry out that service and breaches the contract, the office is entitled to recover funds already paid to the recipient plus interest.

CAN Nursing Education Scholarship Fund

To provide financial assistance for continuing education to registered nurses in California. Amount Awarded: $1000 Number Awarded: 5 each year. Duration: Up to 2 years. Eligibility: Applicants must be licensed registered nurses in California who have been accepted for admission to an accredited BSN or graduate degree program. They must plan to enroll on at least a half-time basis and complete the degree within 5 years. Selection is based on letters of reference, commitment and active participation in nursing and health-related organizations, professional vision and direction, and financial need. Additional Information: Recipients who fail to complete the degree within 5 years are expected to repay the award in full.

CANA Scholarship

To provide financial assistance to members of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists who are residents of California or pursuing further education at a program in the state. Amount Awarded: $1000 Number Awarded: 1 each year. Duration: 1 academic year. Eligibility: This program is open to members of the association who are either 1) residents of California, or 2) attending a nurse anesthesia program in the state. They must be currently enrolled in a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the sponsor. Selection is based on academic achievement, participation in student organizations, and involvement in school and community activities. Additional Information: Funding for this program is provided by the California Association of Nurse Anesthetists. The application fee is $25.

Caring Scholarship

This scholarship has been established and designed for NADONA Academy Fellows who are committed to long term care higher education and who are seeking their Baccalaureate, Masters Degree, or higher degree in nursing. Duration: 1 year. Deadline: Varies each year.

Carol Costante Research Grant

To provide funding to school NPs, educators, and students who are interested in conducting research. Number Awarded: 1 or more each year. Duration: 1 year. Eligibility: Applicants for these grants must be 1) engaged in the practice of school nursing, the education of school nurses, or the study of school nursing as a graduate or undergraduate student; 2) retired from school nursing. They must be interested in conducting research in one of the following topics: impact of school nursing interventions on education outcomes, impact of school nurse interventions for meeting managed care expectations, or cost effectiveness of school nursing services.
