Here are some of the Medicine scholarships on our site for which you may qualify.

The Patti LaBelle Scholarship

The highest honor presented to students by the National Medical Association. This award recognize academic achievement, leadership and potential for distinguished contributions to medicine. Presented to current first, second, and third-year medical students, this award also have a need component. The Patti LaBelle Scholarship will be presented this year to the highest ranked candidate; the cash prize is $5,000.

The NMA Emerging Scholar Awards

The highest honors presented to students by the National Medical Association. These awards recognize academic achievement, leadership and potential for distinguished contributions to medicine. Presented to current first, second, and third-year medical students, these awards also have a need component. Each NMA Emerging Scholar Award will include a cash prize of $2,250.

Aura E. Severinghaus Award

This endowed award was established in 1975 by Mr. Chauncey Waddell and the Charles Evans Hughes Memorial Foundation. It honors the memory of the NMF board member and associate dean emeritus of Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons. This special award is presented annually to a senior minority student attending Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons in recognition of outstanding academic achievement, leadership and community service. AWARD One award is presented annually; this honor includes a certificate of merit and $2,000 stipend. (Not renewable)

Ralph W. Ellison Memorial Prize

This prize was established in 1994 by the NMF Board of Directors to honor the memory of Ralph W. Ellison. A major American writer of the 20th century, Mr. Ellison's novel, The Invisible Man, awakened both black and white Americans to the problems of racial discrimination. Mr. Ellison felt a deep personal commitment to National Medical Fellowships, Inc. and its mission, as demonstrated by his willingness to co-chair a major fundraising effort on behalf of NMF and the students it serves. AWARD One prize is presented annually; the honor includes a certificate of merit and a $500 stipend. (Not renewable)

Hugh J. Andersen Memorial Scholarships

This endowed scholarship program was established in 1982 by the family of the late Hugh J. Andersen who was an active supporter of and generous contributor to NMF's programs. Up to five awards are annually presented to Minnesota residents enrolled beyond their first-year in any accredited U.S. medical school. AWARD: Up to five awards are presented annually; the honor includes a certificate of merit and $2,500 stipend. (Not renewable)

Irving Graef Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship program was established by NMF's board in 1978, and permanently endowed by the Irving Graef Medical Fund in 1980 to honor the memory of one of NMF's most active board members. Dr. Graef served as chairman, assistant treasurer and secretary of the board of directors. He was also associate professor of clinical medicine at New York University School of Medicine. This two-year scholarship is presented annually to a third-year student and recognizes outstanding academic achievement, leadership and community service. The scholarship is renewable in the fourth year if the award winner continues in good academic standing. AWARD: One new scholarship is awarded annually; this honor includes a certificate of merit and annual stipend of $2,000. (Renewable)

Alice S. Hersh Student Scholarship

AcademyHealth is pleased to offer the Alice S. Hersh Student Scholarship which provides two free registrations to the National Health Policy Conference (NHPC) and four free registrations to the Annual Research Meeting (ARM). The scholarship is designed to encourage professional and educational development in health services research and policy among student members. Eligibility Requirements I am a current student member of AcademyHealth. (check website on how to join) I am enrolled full-time in a masters or doctoral program at the time of application. I am not a past recipient of the AcademyHealth Alice S. Hersh Student Scholarship, the Public Health Systems Research Interest Group Student Scholarship, or the Aetna Foundation Minority Scholars Program. I have not previously attended AcademyHealth conferences. Criteria for Judging Applications The selection committee will judge the applications based on: Commitment to the field of health services research or health policy. Potential to contribute to health services research or health policy. Description of how attending this year's conference will help you achieve your academic and/or professional goals. Quality of the short-answer questions (well-written, clear and within the word limit requested).

Nurse.org Healthcare Leaders Scholarship

Nurse.org Healthcare Leaders Scholarship Annual Application Deadline: January 29 Eligibility: Applicants must be 17 or over with a 3.0+ GPA, and enrolled or accepted to a nursing or healthcare-related program. Both graduate and undergraduate students welcome to apply. Must submit a 600-1000 word essay. Federal Chancellor Scholarship

The Federal Chancellor Scholarship is a part of the Alexander Von Humboldt Foundation. This foundation grants research fellowships to foreign scholars who hold doctorates and have not yet reached the age of 40. The Foundation also offers research awards to internationally-recognized foreign scholars of any age, enabling them to spend a lengthy period of research in Germany. Subjects for study include Arts and humanities, business administration and management, fine and applied arts, mass communication and information science, medicine, recreation, welfare, protective services, religion and theology, social, behavioral sciences or law. The purpose of the scholarship is to maintain and foster a close relationship between the United States of America and Germany by sponsoring individuals who demonstrate the potential of playing a pivotal role in the future development of this relationship. Stevenson Scholarship

Amount: $200 - $400 (can reapply each year) Description: This scholarship is available to members of First United Methodist Church who are working toward professions in areas that will benefit people and the environment: education, medicine, environmental, seminary, social service, etc.

John Grisez Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility: • For graduating senior who has been accepted to medical or law school following graduation (must submit proof of acceptance from medical/law school or application will not be considered)• Preference will be given to applicants showing financial need GPA: 3.00

Astanza Q-Switched Laser Annual Scholarship

Astanza is committed to supporting those who aspire to be the next generation of technology innovators and medical providers. The Astanza Q-Switched Laser Annual Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship awarded to students pursuing education in: Physics Biology Engineering Medicine Nursing Other natural or applied science fields The scholarship will only be awarded to students with a minimum GPA of 3.0 that are enrolling in an accredited college in the upcoming fall. The scholarship is a one-time award of $2,500 that may be used for tuition, books, and other education-related expenses.
