HPSP Scholarship

WHO'S ELIGIBLE? The HPSP is available for students pursuing advanced degrees in medicine, dentistry, veterinary science, psychiatric nursing, optometry or psychology. To qualify for the Health Professions Scholarship Program, you must: Be a U.S. citizen with a baccalaureate degree from an accredited school Be enrolled in (or have a letter or acceptance from) an accredited graduate program in the U.S. or Puerto Rico (varies by specialty) Maintain full-time student status during the length of the program Qualify as a commissioned officer FINANCIAL INCENTIVES As you attend school, you'll receive a monthly stipend of more than $2,000. During breaks, you'll receive officer's pay while you train as part of our health care team. After graduation, you'll enter active duty in your specialty and advance in rank to captain. With every promotion, your salary will increase. Your time-in-service and cost-of-living adjustments also lead to pay increases. Additionally, you'll receive a monthly non-taxable allowance for food and housing. WHAT'S COVERED? The U.S. Army health care team will pay 100 percent of your tuition for a graduate-level health care degree for any accredited medical, dental, veterinary, psychology or optometry program in the United States or Puerto Rico. Go Red Multicultural Scholarship Fund

Macy’s and the American Heart Association are continuing their concerted efforts to increase the number of minority women in medical schools through the Go Red™ Multicultural Scholarship Fund. For the fourth consecutive year, the partners are offering sixteen $2,500 tuition-focused scholarships for minority women pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees in healthcare fields. Applicants must: Be a female of Hispanic, African-American, Asian/Pacific Islander or other minority origin Be a citizen/permanent resident of the continental United States, including Hawaii and Alaska Be currently enrolled in an accredited college, university or allied health institution in the U.S. and plan to be enrolled in the Fall Have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA Complete an essay and submit two letters of recommendation with the application Step 2: Apply online You’ll be asked to: Create a login Fill out the application form Step 3: Finalize and upload documents You’ll need to provide: A Community Involvement description Transcripts Two Letters of Recommendation A Personal Essay

Nursing Education Scholarship

TravelNursing.org is happy to provide scholarships for qualifying applicants who are applying to a medical related field or who are currently pursuing further education in the fields of nursing and medicine. Interested applicants are invited to submit an essay of 500-1000 words explaining what it is they hope to accomplish during their career in the medical field. Applicants and potential scholarship winners will be critiqued by the editorial staff at TravelNursing.org and selected annually on February 10th. Applications for this year’s award are due by January 10th. Travel Nursing Scholarship Applications are welcomed from anybody who meets the application requirements. If you are currently enrolled in a medical program or have been accepted by a program but not yet started, you are eligible to apply for the scholastic award. Scholarship shall benefit any person 17 years of age or older who is currently accepted to a medicine related program but not yet started, or any current undergraduate or graduate student who is currently enrolled in and attending a medicine related program at an accredited institution of learning. Requirements Applicant shall be at least 17 years of age and be accepted to a full-time medicine related program, but not yet attending because the established start date of the program has not arrived. Applicant shall be at least 17 years of age and be accepted to and attending a full-time medicine related program at an accredited institution of learning. Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, based on the previous year’s academic performance. Application Process Applicant shall submit all contact information as contained within the application, including name, address, phone number, email, date of birth and sex. Applicant shall submit proof of age. A photocopy of a driver’s license or other valid ID is acceptable. Applicant shall submit proof of enrollment or acceptance to an accredited institution of learning. A photocopy of transcripts or acceptance letter is acceptable. Applicant shall submit an essay of at least 500 words but no more than 1000 words that explain what they hope to accomplish in the medical field and how they will impact the lives of others with the education and knowledge they acquire while in medical training. Essay will also include the student’s opinion of why they feel they should be selected to receive the scholarship funds. Selection Applications will be reviewed by a panel and winner selected based on criteria set forth in the requirements section of this document. Once the winner is decided and notified of the award, he/she will receive a mailed 1099-MISC tax form and the check will be delivered to their address. The winner of the scholarship award will be fully responsible for the taxes incurred from receiving the award.

Next Nursing Leaders Scholarship

Each year, a prospective or current college student will be selected to receive a $1000 scholarship to help with the costs associated with attending school. Armenian American Medical Society Scholarship

George Hi`ilani Mills Scholarship

GRADUATE STUDENTS ONLY  Graduate student pursuing professional studies in the field of medicine or the allied health-related fields  Demonstrate financial need  One-page essay demonstrating applicant’s balanced record of achievement, as well as holding the values and tradition of the Hawaiian Civic Club movement to perpetuate and preserve language, history, music, dance and other cultural traditions as well as advocate for improved welfare of native Hawaiians in culture, health, economic development, education, social welfare, and nationhood, to name a few.  Student Aid Report (SAR) from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Applications are open to the general public. However, it is the policy of the Pauahi Foundation to give preference to applicants of Hawaiian ancestry to the extent permitted by law.

Mary B. Rhodes Scholarship

Awarded to children of international missionaries who are medical students and plan to go into international missions. Those majoring in nursing, dentistry, or pharmacy will also be considered. Application Deadline March 1 / Awarded in June Criteria for All Scholarship Applicants: Our primary mission focus is to assist Baptist students and/or entities, with activities that further the cause of Christ around the world. To be eligible for an MK scholarship, applicants must show that their parents are affiliated with a Southern Baptist-related entity.

Minnesota Heart Research Scholarships

The American Heart Association is working with partners to provide scholarships that allow students to explore the field of cardiovascular research as a career by providing opportunities to work with researchers at Minnesota institutions. Who is eligible? Minnesota students only. One scholarship is for undergraduate students currently enrolled in a four year college or university in the State of Minnesota; three scholarships are for medical students registered at a teaching institution in the State of Minnesota. How many will be selected? This year, there is one undergraduate award and three medical student awards. How are the scholars selected? The scholars will be chosen on merit by an American Heart Association, Midwest Affiliate committee of medical professionals and lay people. The Howard B. Burchell, M.D., Ph. D., Heart Scholarship

The Purpose: This scholarship was established as a permanent tribute to the outstanding contributions of Howard B. Burchell, M.D., Ph.D. to cardiovascular research and teaching. This scholarship will enable a medical student to participate in health science research at a Minnesota institution and to explore the field of research as a career. Who Is Eligible: Minnesota Students Only; medical students registered at a teaching institution in the State of Minnesota are eligible for this award. How The Scholar Is Selected: The scholar will be chosen on merit by an American Heart Association, Midwest Affiliate Committee of medical and/or scientific professionals. The Scholarship: The successful candidate will receive a stipend of $4500 for a period of full-time research (usually three months duration) with the sponsor. How candidates apply: Candidates must submit the appropriate form and complete all requirements. Applications must be fully completed to receive consideration. The James H. Moller, M.D., Heart Scholarship

The Purpose: This scholarship was established to honor the outstanding, lifelong commitment demonstrated by Dr. Moller to the American Heart Association’s mission of reducing disability and death from cardiovascular disease and stroke. This scholarship will enable a medical student to participate in health science research at a Minnesota institution and to explore the field of research as a career. Who Is Eligible: Minnesota Students Only: Medical students registered at a teaching institution in the State of Minnesota are eligible for this award. How The Scholar Is Selected: The scholar will be chosen on merit by an American Heart Association, Midwest Affiliate Committee of medical and/or scientific professionals. The Scholarship: The successful candidate will receive a stipend of $1200 for a period of full-time research (usually three months duration) with the sponsor. Melvin P. Nelson & Esther L. Nelson Heart Scholarship

The purpose: This scholarship was established as a permanent tribute to the years of dedicated fundraising for the American Heart Association of Melvin P. and Esther L. Nelson. This scholarship will enable a medical student to participate in health science research at a Minnesota institution and to explore the field of research as a career. Who is eligible: Minnesota Students Only: Medical students registered at a teaching institution in the State of Minnesota are eligible for this award. How the scholar is selected: The scholar will be chosen on merit by an American Heart Association, Midwest Affiliate Committee of medical and/or scientific professionals. The Helen N. & Harold B. Shapira Heart Medical Scholarship

The Purpose: To stimulate interest in the study of heart and blood vessel diseases. The Scholarship: Every year one $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a medical student. The successful candidate will be eligible for a renewal of the $1,000 award for a second year provided they maintain satisfactory scholastic progress. Renewals will be considered in conjunctions with all new applications. Who Is Eligible: Minnesota Students Only: Medical students currently enrolled in a Minnesota state medical school and working in a curriculum with potential application to patients with diseases of the heart and blood vessel system are eligible.
