Students who are enrolled or accepted into Dentist, Dental Hygienists, Nurse Practitioners, Certified Nurse Midwives, and Physician Assistant programs.An awardee may receive up to $10,000 for this scholarship. An awardee commits to work full-time or 32 hours per week after graduating with a degree for a two-year service obligation practicing direct patient care in a medically underserved area (MUA) in California.You must be both a permanent resident of California and U.S. citizen in order to apply for all programs administered by the Health Professions Education Foundation.To be eligible for this program, students must be seeking one of the following health profession occupations:? Certified Nurse MidwiferyScholarships are available to students who are enrolled or accepted in an accredited professional program. Priority will be given to students who will graduate within one (1) to two (2) years. Be a full-time or part-time student (no less than six (6) units) in a California accredited school.? Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 each year scholarship funds are sought.? Upon graduating, complete a two (2) year service obligation to practice in a medically underserved area of California as a Health Professional providing full-time (32 hours per week or its equivalent) direct patient care.NOTE: Scholarship recipients may be awarded up to two (2) times which carries a two (2) year service obligation for each award.

The purpose of the Allied Healthcare Scholarship Program is to increase the number of appropriately trained allied healthcare professionals, and to encourage their practice in direct patient care in medically underserved areas of California. Priority is given to students enrolled in the fields of medical imaging, occupational therapy, physical therapy, respiratory care, social work, pharmacy, pharmacy technician, medical laboratory technologist, surgical technician, ultrasound technician, and diagnostic medical sonography. Eligible applicants may receive up to $2,500 per year, and would have a service obligation of 1 year or 100-150 hours volunteer service. This program is funded by a contribution from Kaiser Permanente.

Loan repayments are awarded to practitioners who are employed or who have a tentative offer of full-time employment in a medically underserved area of California to repay governmental or commercial loans incurred while pursuing their professional education. Eligible applicants may receive up to $20,000 over a two-year period, and would have a service obligation of 2 years. This program is made possible by a grant from the Vitamin Cases Consumer Settlement Fund.

Carrying Forward his Dream Mike passed away on April 26, 2007 at the age of 21. He had many dreams and aspirations he was unable to carry out. Mike’s biggest dreams were to become a paramedic as well as an EMT instructor, which he had already begun to do. In Mike’s short life he touched and inspired many people through his perseverance, vision, dedication and intense work ethic. To carry forward his dream of educating others in the field of Emergency Medical Services, the Michael J. EMS Scholarship Foundation was established to provide monetary support for those wishing to become an EMT or paramedic. In this way, Michael can continue his goal of helping others even after his death. Mission Statement To support Emergency Medical Services by finding intelligent, hardworking, and dedicated individuals who have the energy and enthusiasm for their work as well as a drive for continuing their education. A scholarship for students pursuing a health-related degree program. Areas of study that will be considered include, but are not limited to, counseling, social work, emergency medicine, pre-med, nursing, psychology (with a focus on addiction counseling or a substance-abuse related field).

We will be offering a limited number of competitive scholarships based on academic merit and financial need for current and former dancers who have received the maximum amount from the Caroline H. Newhouse Scholarship Fund and are pursuing graduate degrees in fields other than performance dance. The Osato Scholarship will be limited to a one-time grant of up to $5,000 to any one individual, paying for tuition and fees only. It is anticipated that the endowment will generate funds sufficient to award a grant to a minimum of two applicants annually. Award checks will be made out to the institution. Awards will not be granted retroactively (e.g. not be used to reimburse dancers for tuition already paid, for loans or other credit debt.) To be eligible to apply for a Sono Osato Scholarship applicants must: Have received the maximum allowed amount from the Newhouse Scholarship Fund. Have achieved a minimum 3.5 GPA for an undergraduate or graduate degree, or recent pre-requisite coursework. Be studying or planning to study at the graduate level for a degree in one of the approved areas, such as professional degrees (law and medicine), the medical arts (nursing, physicians assistant, physical therapy, etc.), the helping professions (social work, counseling, psychology, creative arts therapies, etc.), physical and social sciences, education, business and the humanities. Previous recipients of a Gasparinetti Scholarship award are not eligible to apply for an Osato Scholarship.

These scholarships are available in such diverse specialties as business administration, electronic engineering technology, drafting and computer assisted design, secretarial, fashion merchandising and design, accounting, cartooning/illustration, court reporting, professional mariner, culinary arts, hospitality management, private investigation, nail and skin care technology, respiratory therapy technician, travel and tourism, cosmetology, video film production and recording arts, automotive service technology, photography, industrial design technology, music and video business, allied health administration, air conditioning and refrigeration technology, paralegal studies, interior design, therapeutic massage, rescue and advanced open water diving, cardiovascular technologist, visual communication, medical or dental assisting and other business, health care and technical/career fields.

Who may apply: Maryland residents who provide public service in Maryland State or local government or nonprofit agencies in Maryland to low income or underserved residents.How to apply: Complete and file a LARP General application. Third-year law students must file a Pre-Graduation Law Application and LARP General application.When to apply: LARP General applications become available in June. The application deadline is September 30. Pre-Graduation Law Applications become available in September of your third year of law school. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTSYou must have earned a degree from a college in Maryland, or from any law school, or a resident teacher certificate from the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE). You must be employed full-time (35+ hours per week) in state or local government or in a nonprofit organization in Maryland. Your employer must help low income, underserved residents or underserved areas in the state. You must have educational loans from a university, government, or commercial source that you used to pay college expenses. You may not be in default on a loan. Your annual gross salary cannot exceed $60,000. If married, your annual gross salary cannot exceed $60,000, and your combined salaries cannot exceed $130,000. If employed as a nurse faculty member, your annual gross salary cannot exceed $75,000. If married, your annual gross salary cannot exceed $75,000, and your combined salaries cannot exceed $160,000. This is a service-based program. Prior service obligations from other State of Maryland scholarships must be completed by July 1. One position cannot fulfill two service obligations simultaneously.PRE-GRADUATION LAW STUDENT REQUIREMENTSYou must be a law student attending University of Maryland, Baltimore or University of Baltimore and in your third and final year of school. You must submit a Pre-Graduation Law Application before graduation in May, together with verification of an employment offer. You must submit a LARP General application by September 30 and meet all eligibility requirements listed above.
