The Vectorworks Design Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY Nemetschek Vectorworks values the different backgrounds and experiences that comprise the next generation of designers. We strive to provide funding to as many students as possible through a variety of scholarship options; however, a limited number of scholarships are issued each year. The is designed to meet the needs and qualifications of a variety of students. At the time of submission, scholarship applicants must be: 1) enrolled or accepted for enrollment in undergraduate or graduate studies for six or more credits at an accredited college or university, and 2) pursuing a design-oriented degree. Such degrees include, but are not limited to, architecture, engineering, construction, environmental design, urban design, urban planning, interior design, graphic design, landscape architecture, landscape design, lighting design, industrial design, machine design, theater design, scenic design, event planning, exhibit design, and woodworking.

Wisconsin Garden Club Federation Scholarship

Eligibility:    Upper level college students entering their junior or senior year, or postgraduate students having a scholastic record of not less than a “B” average and are pursuing a major in horticulture, landscaping, environmental sciences, conservation, forestry, city planning, land management or other similar courses.   Award Amount:      Number of awards may vary.  Amount of this non‐renewable scholarship award is up to $1,000 for tuition expenses.                   Selection:    Recipients are selected each spring by the Wisconsin Garden Club Scholarship Selection Committee within the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region.  Selection will be based on academic record, character, occupational objective, and financial need.

Wisconsin Garden Club Federation Irene Straus Scholarship

Eligibility: Upper level college students entering their junior or senior year, or postgraduate students having a scholastic record of not less than a “B” average and are pursuing a major in horticulture, landscaping, environmental sciences, conservation, forestry, city planning, land management or other similar courses. Award Amount: One non-renewable $1,000 scholarship award for tuition expenses. Selection: Recipients are selected each spring by the Wisconsin Garden Club Scholarship Selection Committee within the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region. Selection will be based on academic record, character, and occupational objective.

TOCA Scholarship Program

Application Materials:The Turf and Ornamental Communicators Association will award one $2,500 fall semester scholarships to undergraduate college students pursuing a career in green industry communications.1. To qualify, students must major or minor in technical communications or a green industry related field such as horticulture, plant sciences, botany, agronomy, plant pathology, etc. The applicant also must demonstrate an interest in using this course of study in the field of communications.2. Applicants must have an overall GPA of 2.5 or above and a 3.0 in the major area of study (based on a 4.0 scale). Students enrolled in the fall can apply for the scholarship. Eligibility, as determined by the TOCA Board of Directors, extends to two and four year program students attending institutions that offer turf management curriculums.3. Landscape Forms Design for People Scholarship

Landscape Forms believes in the power of design to enrich outdoor spaces. Landscape Forms, founded on the commitment to good design and concern for the well being of people, has created a scholarship to honor excellence in design for people -- addressing how people use spaces and the ways in which the design of spaces and amenities can enhance and enrich the experience of those who use them.The Landscape Forms Scholarship is open to landscape architecture students who will be starting their final year of full-time undergraduate study in an LAAB-accredited program and who demonstrate passion, commitment, and competence in creating great spaces for people.Applicants must show a proven contribution to the design of public spaces that integrates landscape design and the use of amenities to promote social interaction. The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic accomplishment and creative ability.RequirementsIn addition to the General Submission Guidelines this fellowship requires the following: * A 300 - word maximum essay describing the qualities essential to the creation of great and successful public spaces * Three 8 ½ x11 academic or internship work samples in either jpg or PDF format * Two letters of recommendation from current professors and/or internship employers

Steven G. King Play Environments Scholarship

The Steven G. King Play Environments Scholarship was created by Steven G. King, FASLA, founder and Chairman of Landscape Structures Inc., and the inventor of the "continuous play" concept. Mr. King developed the continuous play concept as part of his final project in landscape architecture in 1967, and it revolutionized the playground industry. This concept launched a new industry that included the development of modular composite play structures to encourage connected or continuous play opportunities. This concept is still utilized in nearly every community playground installed today.Eligible applicants include landscape architecture students with a demonstrated interest and aptitude in the design of play environments who are enrolled in graduate or the final two years of undergraduate study in LAAB accredited schools.The purpose of the Scholarship is to recognize a student who has high potential in the design of play environments. This student must show an interest in the value of integrating playgrounds into parks, schools and other play environments and understand the significant social and educational value of play. Key qualities in the student receiving the Scholarship are creativity, openness to innovation, and a demonstrated interest in park and playground planning.Requirements:In addition to the General Submission Guidelines this fellowship requires the following: * A 300 to 500 word maximum essay describing the applicant's views of the significant social and educational value of play and the value of integrating playgrounds into play and recreation environments. * A plan and details of a play environment of the applicant's design in either jpg or PDF format. * Two letters of recommendation from current professors familiar with the applicant's demonstrated interest in park and playground planning, creativity and openness to innovation.

ASLA Council of Fellows Scholarships

This scholarship fund was established by the ASLA Council of Fellows in 2004 to: 1) aid outstanding students who would not otherwise have an opportunity to continue a professional degree program due to unmet financial need; 2) increase the interest and participation of economically disadvantaged and under-represented populations in the study of landscape architecture; and 3) enrich the profession of landscape architecture through a more diverse population.Eligible applicants must be permanent US citizens or permanent resident aliens who are third, fourth, or fifth-year undergraduates at Landscape Architecture Accreditation Board (LAAB) accredited programs of landscape architecture. Graduate students are not eligible for this award.Up to two scholarships are awarded each year to promising students, with one specifically available to students of under-represented populations. Geographic distribution of the applicant pool will be considered. Applicants seeking special consideration for the diversity scholarship should indicate and identify their association with a specific ethnic or cultural group.In addition to receiving up to $4,000, each recipient will also receive a one-year student ASLA membership, general registration fees for the ASLA Annual Meeting and EXPO, and a travel stipend to attend the meeting. Scholarship recipients are expected to attend the ASLA Annual Meeting to receive their awards.In addition to the General Submission Guidelines this fellowship requires the following: * Essay of 500 words maximum about how you envision yourself contributing to the profession of landscape architecture. * Two letters of recommendation specifically addressing your merit as a student of landscape architecture. One letter of recommendation must come from a faculty member; the other letter may be sent by a non-academic member of ASLA or another faculty member. * Financial Information Form * A statement of up to 250 words describing your financial needs and any special financial considerations you would like to be considered. * Applicants seeking special consideration for the diversity scholarship should indicate and identify their association with a specific ethnic or cultural group on their General Submission Form under the Additional Comments section (see General Submission Guidelines).

The EDSA Minority Scholarship

The EDSA Minority Scholarship was established to help African American, Hispanic, Native American and minority students of other cultural and ethnic backgrounds continue their landscape architecture education. Eligible candidates will be entering their final two years of undergraduate study in fall or pursuing a graduate degree in Landscape Architecture. EDSA is an internationally-renowned full-service planning, landscape architecture, urban design, and graphic design firm with over 220 employees. Established in 1960, the firm has extensive experience in attractions and entertainment, campus and cultural, communities and new towns, ecotourism and environmental planning, hotels and resorts, as well as urban design. EDSA is headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and has offices in Orlando, Florida; Los Angeles, California; Beijing, China; and Baltimore, Maryland.In addition to the General Submission Guidelines this fellowship requires the following: * A typed, double-spaced essay (500-word maximum) describing a design or research effort you plan to pursue with an explanation of how it will contribute to the advancement of the profession and your ethnic heritage. * Three 8 ½ x11 work samples in either jpg or PDF format * Two letters of recommendation

Courtland Paul Scholarship

This scholarship honors the memory of Courtland P. Paul, FASLA (1927-2003) and his lifelong commitment to the landscape architecture profession. A native Californian, he became one of the state's first licensed landscape architects in 1954. Mr. Paul and Peridian International, the landscape architecture firm he founded over fifty years ago, were well known for community design and master planning, and for the golf courses, hotels, and theme parks they created in Southern California and throughout the world.Eligible applicants include United States citizens who are undergraduate students in the final two years of study in Landscape Architecture Accreditation Board accredited schools. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and a minimum grade point average of "C."In addition to the General Submission Guidelines this fellowship requires the following: * A 500-word maximum essay describing the applicant's aspirations, ability to surmount obstacles, high level of drive, and need for financial assistance. * Financial Information Form * Two letters of recommendation from current professors familiar with the applicant's character and goals in pursuing an education in landscape architecture. * Note: This award must be used only for tuition and/or books within the school year of the award.

Rain Bird Intelligent Use of Water Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Rain Bird Corporation to recognize an outstanding landscape architecture, horticulture or irrigation science student. Eligible applicants include students in the final two years of undergraduate study (third-, fourth-, or fifth-year students) who have demonstrated commitment to these professions through participation in extracurricular activities and exemplary scholastic achievements.Rain Bird develops products and technologies that use water efficiently. Peridian International, Inc./Rae L. Price, FASLA Scholarship

This scholarship is intended to benefit the profession of Landscape Architecture by helping to bring young creative individuals into the profession who may not otherwise have the financial ability to cover all the costs of their educational program. The use of funds is restricted to tuition, books, and program required supplies within the school year of the award.Eligible applicants are United States citizens who are students in the final two years of study in Landscape Architecture at the University of California at Los Angeles Extension Program. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and a minimum grade point average of "B." In addition to the General Submission Guidelines this fellowship requires the following: * A 500-word maximum essay describing the applicant's aspirations, ability to surmount obstacles, high level of drive, and need for financial assistance. * Financial Information Form * Two letters of recommendation from current professors familiar with the applicant's character and goals in pursuing an education in landscape architecture. * Note: This award must be used only for tuition and/or books within the school year of the award.

Ted Rollins Eco Scholarship 

Ted Rollins and Valeo Partners award a $1,000 scholarship twice each year to one talented student who is majoring in a field related to sustainability. This money may be used to pay for tuition, books or living expenses. Who Qualifies: * High school seniors and college undergraduate students. * Major (or plans to major) in a field related to sustainability. * Must plan to take at least 10 credit hours during the fall 2018 semester.
