AAJA/Cox Foundation Scholarship
1. Must be pursuing a career in either print, broadcast or photojournalism. 2. Must have sensitivity to Asian American and Pacific Islander issues as demonstrated by community involvement. 3. Must have at least 12 units. Maria Elena Yuchengco Memorial Journalism Scholarship
The public is very dependent on news that is gathered and presented every day. Good journalism requires talent, dedication and a genuine interest in seeing the total picture and understanding what is most important. Diversity among journalists, especially in a region like the San Francisco Bay Area, plays a crucial role ensuring comprehensive and balanced presentation of the news. Filipinos have been underrepresented in journalism, so the founder of Filipinas Magazine, Mona Lisa Yuchengco, created this scholarship to support students of Filipino heritage who choose to pursue careers in journalism. General Information The Maria Elena Yuchengco Memorial Journalism Scholarship will award two to three scholarships totaling $5,000 each year. This scholarship was created through the Asian Pacific Fund to provide educational opportunities for Filipino American students to pursue journalism as a major or a career. Criteria * Full-time undergraduate student at any U.S. college university * Journalism major or demonstrates a strong commitment to pursue a journalism career * Filipino heritage (at least 50 percent) * Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale * Award based on merit and financial need * Resident of Northern California * U.S. citizen or permanent resident
The Bonfire Foundation - Scholarship
Giving to provide financial and motivational support to youth, helping them realize that they can raise the quality of their lives and the lives of those around them. The foundation will also provide educational grants to students enthusiastic to be collegiate team members but who are in need of financial assistance to achieve their dreams. Viola Pfaff Bowman Memorial Scholarship Fund
Demonstrate good character, academic achievement, and financial need. Intend to pursue a degree in journalism at a four-year Indiana college or university. Limited to residents of the central Indiana region.
Childrens Advocacy Institute: Child Welfare Scholarship & Journalism Award
Giving scholarships to individuals for higher education in the field of media, journalism/publishing. Please contact the foundation through letter for more information. Limited to residents of California.
Cap Lathrop Endowment Scholarship Fund
Established in 1997 by A.G. Hiebert, GCI and other private donors. The Cap Lathrop Broadcast and Telecommunications Scholarship is for eligible Alaska Native original enrollees/descendants to an ANCSA regional or village corporation. Preference is given to Native original enrollees/descendants of Cook Inlet Region, Inc. An applicant must be a declared major in broadcast, telecommunications, business, engineering, journalism, or other media related degree programs to be considered.
HPRA Scholarship Program
Students who already are college students and who have declared majors in journalism, public relations, advertising, marketing, communications or related fields. High school students may not apply. For the time being, awards are limited to students at colleges and universities in Southern California, principally Los Angeles and Orange Counties.
Cox Newspaper Minority Journalism Scholarship
The scholarship is intended to provide total financial support for highly-motivated minority students (African-American, Asian-American, Hispanic, Native American and people of color) who are citizens for four years of study who wish to pursue a career in the newspaper industry. This scholarship is for four-years of study in any one of the following areas of study: Journalism, Mass Communications, Economics, English, Accounting, Political Science, History, Public Policy, Urban Studies, Advertising. Cox Enterprises Inc., a multi media company headquartered in Atlanta, offers a full paid, four year scholarship to high school seniors who will graduate from the metro school system served by one of the following newspapers: West Palm Beach Post (Florida), Austin-American Statesman (Texas), and Atlanta Journal-Constitution (Georgia). Only one scholarship is offered each calendar year and only one newspaper is selected to administer the program.
National AAJA General Scholarship
Awards of up to $2,000 will be awarded to outstanding students pursuing careers in print, broadcast journalism, or photo journalism. To be eligible for any of the scholarship programs, a student must be a graduating high school senior, undergraduate or graduate students enrolled full-time in an accredited college or university. Students are generally selected based on the following criteria: - commitment to the field of journalism - sensitivity to Asian American issues as demonstrated by community involvement - journalistic ability - scholastic ability - financial need
The Assoc for Women in Communications - Angela Gram Memorial Scholarship
Scholarship Type: Current College Student Scholarship Amount: One $500 scholarship Application Details: Contact Sarah Cochran at [email protected] Residency Requirements: None School Requirements: Drury University, Evangel University or Missouri State University Eligibility Requirements 1. Sophomore or junior at one of above schools and/or graduate student 2. Minimum course load of 12 credit hours as day-student or 6 credit hours as evening-student 3. Must be communications or journalism major 4. Strong academic standing 5. Demonstrate community service and/or extracurricular activities 6. Two letters of recommendation 7. Two samples of your work in communication/journalism 8. Essay.
NDS / DMI Education & Communication Scholarship
(1st - $1,500; 2nd through 5th - $1,000)
(Number of awards is dependent on number and quality of applicants).
These scholarships are provided to encourage undergraduate sophomores and junior students to pursue education or communication careers in dairy or food related industries. Major areas can include: Education, Social Media & Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Food Science, Nutrition (Human), and Journalism. Scholarships are based on leadership, experience, academic ability and interests in education or communications. Co-sponsored with Dairy Management Inc.

C-SPAN Scholarship Program
Scholarship Value: $2,000 Classifications: Undergraduate Sophomore, Undergraduate Junior Minimum GPA: 3.0 Eligible Majors: Communications, Journalism, Political Science, English, History Eligible Schools: UNCF Member Colleges and Universities (please check the website for the complete list) Eligible Locations: Open Scholarship Detail: This program offers a paid summer internship and scholarship in the amount of $2,000.
