George Foreman Tribute to Lyndon B. Johnson Scholarship
George Foreman is a boxing champion, Olympic gold medal winner and celebrated pitchman. As a young man, he was inspired by President Lyndon Johnson and by RTDNF founder Barney Oldfield. In his autobiography "By George," Foreman credits LBJ's Job Corps program for rescuing him "from the gutter." He also thanks Barney Oldfield "for a lifetime of friendship, devotion, counsel, and wisdom. The world would be a far better place if everyone were lucky enough to have a friend like you."
The George Foreman Tribute to Lyndon Baines Johnson scholarship is a $6,000 award given to a journalism student from the University of Texas at Austin.
GEORGE FOREMAN TRIBUTE TO LBJ SCHOLARSHIP APPLICANT CRITERIA:
Must be officially enrolled in college and have at least one full academic year remaining.
Must be a fully enrolled college sophomore or higher to receive scholarship.
Must apply for only one scholarship.
May be enrolled in any major so long as your intent is a career in electronic journalism.

Hearst Journalism Awards Program
The Hearst Journalism Awards Program, was founded in 1960, to provide support, encouragement, and assistance to journalism education at the college and university level. The program awards scholarships to students for outstanding performance in college-level journalism, with matching grants to the students' schools. The 54th annual program offering up to $500,000 in awards, consists of five monthly writing competitions, two photojournalism competitions, three broadcast news competitions (one in radio and two in television), and four multimedia competitions - with championship finals in all divisions.
Participation in the program is open to undergraduate journalism majors currently enrolled in ACEJMC - accredited domestic universities. An exception to the journalism major rule is made for students entering the photojournalism competitions. Entrants must be actively involved in campus media and must have published articles, photographs or produced newscasts or multimedia pieces that can be submitted in our writing, photojournalism, broadcast news and/or multimedia competitions.

Since then, The Hearst Foundations have contributed more than $925 million in the areas of education, health care, social services, and the arts in every state.
High School Minority Scholarship
The Ohio Newspapers Foundation will award a $1,500 scholarship to a minority high school senior in Ohio who plans to pursue a newspaper journalism career.Eligibility * Applicant must be a graduating senior at an Ohio high school. Awardee must be enrolled as college freshman at an Ohio college or university for the school year. * A minimum high school grade point average of 2.5 (C+) is required. The student’s high school transcripts must accompany the application. * Applicants must be African American, Hispanic, Asian American or American Indian. * Application form must be typed or printed legibly by the applicant. (The application form on the reverse side may be photocopied). * Students must demonstrate the ability to write clearly in an autobiography of 750 to 1,000 words describing academic and career interests, awards, extracurricular activities and any journalism-related activities. * Applications must be accompanied by two letters of recommendation from high school faculty members familiar with the student’s work and career interests. * Students may provide additional information such as samples or articles that have been published (limit to two, please).
Marshfield Lions Club, Edward W. Heller Memorial Scholarship
Established by the Lions Club in memory of Ed Heller, formereditor of the Marshfield News-Herald and long-time Lions Clubmember.Eligibility: Full-time students from the Marshfield area entering their junior or senior years of undergraduate school who major in one or more of the communication arts, with special consideration to those majoring in journalism; or full-time post-graduate students from the Marshfield area majoring in journalism; or individuals from the Marshfield area who are pursuing post-graduate work in journalism on either a full orpart-time basis. IFEC Scholarships for Foodservice Communication Careers
IFEC scholarships are intended to assist students pursuing careers as writers, editors, public relations and marketing communication practitioners and closely related areas within the foodservice industry. EligibilityTo be considered eligible for an award, a student must be currently enrolled and in good standing in a post-secondary, degree-granting educational institution in the U.S. and have an expected graduation date that is after December 31, 2011.The student must show evidence of training, skill and interest in both foodservice and the communication arts. The combination of studies and/or work experience in both the foodservice field and the communication arts is necessary. Applicants should have a strong academic record, good character references and demonstrate financial need. Majors considered applicable in the foodservice area include culinary arts, hotel, restaurant and institutional management, hospitality management, dietetics, nutrition, food science and technology, and related studies. Applicable majors in the communication area include journalism, public relations, mass communication, English, broadcast journalism, marketing, photography, graphic arts, and related studies.
Mary A. Gardner Scholarship
The award, established by Dr. Gardner’s former students, goes to an outstanding college journalism student who is an incoming college junior or senior.
Mary Moy Quan Ing Memorial Scholarship
$2,000 to a graduating high school senior who is enrolling in college and pursuing a journalism career.
AAJA/Cox Foundation Scholarship
Awards of up to $2,500 to students pursuing careers in print, broadcast or photo journalism. Each year, AAJA offers scholarships to outstanding high school seniors and undergraduate and graduate students. Students are selected based on the following criteria: Commitment to the field of journalism. Sensitivity to Asian American and Pacific Islander issues as demonstrated by community involvement. Journalistic ability Financial need
