Humanities Scholarships

Undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees or certificates in women and gender studies at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Giving limited to western MA.

Eligible Majors: Mathematics, Computer Science, Humanities, Sociology, Physics, Demography, Ecology, Anthropology Eligible Schools: UNCF Member Colleges and Universities, Hampton University (please check the website for the complete list) Eligible Locations: Open Scholarship Detail: This program provides a $750 stipend per academic semester and a $3,000 stipend/summer institute for selected students who are interested in enrolling in Ph.D. programs and pursuing college-teaching careers. Eligibility Criteria:•Must be of Hispanic background•Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident residing in the United States or Puerto Rico•Must be studying at an accredited university in the U.S. or Puerto Rico for the upcoming academic year•Must be (or plan to be) enrolled full-time as an undergraduate student for the upcoming academic year•Must have earned and maintain a cumulative Grade Point Average of no less than 3.0 on a 4.0 scale•Must demonstrate financial need•Must be studying a major that falls under the Other Majors Application

Two $2,500 per year scholarships will be awarded to qualified new freshmen or transfer students who have been admitted into one of the following areas in the humanities: classical studies, communication, English, fine arts, history, modern languages, philosophy, theology or theatre. Prospective candidates must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale. New freshmen must: have a minimum 26 on the ACT or an 1170 on the SAT; and be admitted to Loyola prior to February 25. All qualified, admitted students should complete the application and it must be returned by March 1. The recipients will be notified by April 1.

Catherine W. Pierce scholarship was established to support students who are majoring in disciplines within the Arts and/or History. Mrs. Pierce had a great interest in helping deserving students pursue the fields of Art or History. The award amount is up to $5,000. Eligibility Before completing a scholarship application, a potential applicant should consider the following eligibility requirements: • Applicant must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States. • Applicant is currently enrolled in an undergraduate program that will continue into the coming academic year, has been admitted to an undergraduate program for the coming academic year, or has applied for admission to begin undergraduate study. • Applicant is currently pursuing or will pursue a degree in family and consumer sciences or related specialized programs at the undergraduate level and is (or will be) enrolled for the academic year and is making satisfactory progress. • Applicant does meet or is willing to meet the specific requirements of the scholarship. A $5,000 scholarship and up to $1,000 of support for one year of AAFCS membership and participation in the AAFCS Annual Conference will be awarded to no more than one (1) qualified undergraduate student pursuing a degree in family and consumer sciences.

Eligibility requirements: Legal residents of Delaware U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens High school seniors who rank in upper half of class and have a combined score of 1350 on the SAT Enroll full-time at the University of Delaware or Delaware State University Major in the humanities or social sciences. Preference will be given to political science majors. Must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) prior to the application deadline.
