Anil and Neema Thakrar Family Fund
The Anil and Neema Thakrar Family Fund is an endowment fund of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities. This scholarship will be used to assist students for the study of a medical related discipline attending a school in Dauphin, Cumberland or Perry Counties.Selection criteria:Scholarship applications will be evaluated on the following criteria:1. Students must attend college for the study of a medical related discipline2. Leadership/Community Service3. Character4. Academic performance with a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale5. An essay on the following topic: “My biggest life challenge and what I learned from the experience.”6. Financial need
Edwina Foye Award for Outstanding Graduate Student
The Edwina Foye scholarship was established in 1985 by colleagues, friends, and family to honor the memory of Edwina Foye, RN, a nurse who dedicated twenty-five years of service to Portsmouth Hospital (1952-1978). This scholarship is awarded at the Foundation's Annual Meeting in April to a graduate student who is a resident in one of the nine towns in the Foundation area. The individual selected for this award must be pursuing a career in health and demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and personal accomplishmentsEligibility:To be eligible for award consideration, applicants continuously must have been and continue to be a resident of one (or more) of the following communities (Portsmouth, North Hampton, Greenland, Rye, Newington, New Castle, New Hampshire; or, Kittery, Eliot, or York, Maine for a minimum of two (2) years prior to the academic year of the Scholarship Program.Applicants must be pursuing a health-related field of study as a graduate student in an accredited institution of learning. Greatest consideration will be given to academic achievement as exemplified by class rank, GPA, and test scores; also considered are course difficulty, work shortage areas of need in Seacoast, job experience, community service, evidence of dedication to chosen field of study, and financial need.Required Test Scores for Graduate Students: * Graduate Record Exam (GRE) or Graduate Medical Aptitude Test (GMAT) * Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) * Dental Admission Test (DAT) * National League of Nursing Admissions Test (NLN)
Dr. Hans and Clara Zimmerman Foundation Health Scholarships
Description:Dr. Hans Zimmerman established this foundation to provide financial assistance to individuals in Hawai‘i wishing to pursue an education in a health field. During his long and productive career in Hawai‘i, Dr. Zimmerman encouraged countless individuals to choose careers in medicine. At his death, additional assets came into the foundation so that it is now one of the largest scholarship funds in Hawai‘i. Requirements: Plan to major in a health-related field in a school in the USA (not including sports medicine, psychology unless clinical, social work). Be a college junior, senior or graduate student. Minimum GPA 3.0. Personal statement should include a description of your participation in community service projects or activities.
Hokuli`a Foundation Scholarship Fund
Requirements:- Be a resident of North or South Kona.- Plan to study in the fields of Healthcare, Education, or Social Work.- Preference given to students demonstrating an emphasis in advancing Native Hawaiian culture.- Include in your personal statement a record of your community service and a description of how your future career may benefit the lives of Hawai'i residents and/or advance Native Hawaaiian culture upon completion of your education. Also provide information about your intentions to stay in or return to Kona or Hawai'i after completing your education.
Robanna Fund
Description:The Robanna Fund was created in 1992 to provide financial assistance to students in the medical field so that they may pursue careers in the health care profession. Requirements: Be an undergraduate majoring in a health-related field.
Camp Roy-El Scholarship Endowment
Available to college-level juniors and seniors currently completing undergraduate degrees at Michigan-based colleges and universities. Applicants must be pursuing a profession dedicated to working with persons with disabilities and maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA. Possible fields may include allied health, nursing, medicine, occupational therapy and physical therapy or students in social work and special education. Previous applicants are eligible to apply.
Michigan County Medical Care Facilities Council Scholarship Endowment
Available to Michigan-based college students that are employees, or the spouse or child of employees, of an MCMCFC member facility and that are in a health and human services field of study.
Rhea Sourifman Caplin Memorial Scholarship
Selection Criteria * Greater Hartford resident (preference to Bloomfield) * Of the Jewish faith * Accepted or currently enrolled at an accredited institution of higher learning * Pursuing nursing or healthcare profession * Minimum B average in sciences * Good citizenship and active involvement in the communityAdditional materials: * Essay about why you should receive a scholarship from the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Hartford. * Financial Aid Worksheet (last page of application available at http://www.jcfhartford.org) and copy of parents' IRS 1040
Health Care Major Scholarships
Eligibility Criteria:•Must be of Hispanic background•Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident residing in the United States or Puerto Rico•Must be studying at an accredited university in the U.S. or Puerto Rico for the upcoming academic year•Must be (or plan to be) enrolled full-time as an undergraduate or graduate student for the upcoming academic year•Must have earned and maintain a cumulative Grade Point Average of no less than 3.0 on a 4.0 scale•Must demonstrate financial need•Must be studying a major that falls under the Health Care Majors Application
IRSC Health Science Scholarships
For students enrolled in one of IRSC's Health Science Programs.
Carter Littell Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility: * Awarded to students working toward a degree related to health care services, particularly the treatment of physical and mental handicaps. * Applicant must be currently enrolled in the School of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation (HPER). * For more information, contact the School of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation (HPER).
The Robert L. Schattner Scholarship Award
The Robert L. Schattner Scholarship is for Jewish students residing in Burlington, Camden or Gloucester
Counties who plan to enroll or are currently enrolled in a college or university degree-related program.
Priority will be given to students pursuing degree programs in a health or business related field. Students
must demonstrate financial need.
RULES:
1. Applicant must have a 2.5 minimum grade point average
2. Include all extra-curricular activities applicant is involved with including: participation in religious, civic
and/or community organizations, athletics, and/or employment experience
3. Applicant must demonstrate financial need
4. Parent or Guardian must complete the Scholarship Financial Application
5. Award period is one year
6. Current recipients of this scholarship may re-apply
7. Scholarship may be used for tuition and books or room and board
8. Applicants must provide the following materials:
□ Special Scholarship Application Form
□ Most recent official transcript with GPA and SAT scores
□ Personal statement describing your involvement in the Jewish community, extracurricular
activities, honors and awards (as indicated in Special Scholarship Application Form)
□ Parent/Guardians’ most recently signed 1040
□ Two letters of recommendation from source other than a family member
