Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture International Doctoral Scholarships

The foundation seeks to assist in the training of future Jewish scholars for careers in Jewish scholarship and research, and to enable religious, educational and other Jewish communal workers, to obtain advanced training for leadership positions. Scholarships are open to graduate students of any nationality who are specializing in a Jewish field and are officially enrolled or registered in a doctoral program at a recognized university. Dissertation Research Grant

Criteria: * Ph.D. candidate investigating any aspect of southern Jewish history $750 grant for dissertation research. Entries will be judged by an independent committee of scholars. The winner will be announced prior to the Southern Jewish Historical Society

Sidney and Hadassah Musher Publication Prize

Awarded every other year (year ending in odd number) Sidney and Hadassah Musher Publication Prize for a doctoral dissertation relating to Jewish Life in Israel or America: 1880 to the Present -The National Foundation for Jewish Culture announces the Sidney and Hadassah Musher Publication Prize. The prize will provide $4,000 toward the publication of a PhD dissertation relating to Jewish life in Israel or America from 1880 to the present. The American Research Center in Egypt

ARCE administers fellowships for study in Egypt by students enrolled in doctoral programs at North American universities and by post-doctoral scholars and professionals affiliated with North American universities and research institutions. Depending on the source of funding, fellowships are granted for periods of between 3 and 12 months. Funding sources are as follows: The United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational & Cultural Affairs (ECA) fellowships for doctoral students and post-doctoral scholars; minimum term: three months The National Endowment for the Humanities: fellowships for professional and post-doctoral scholars; minimum term: four months. The Samuel H. Kress Foundation. The Kress Fellowship in Egyptian Art and Architecture is available to doctoral students of any nationality enrolled in a North American university. Term: 12 months. The William P. McHugh Memorial Fund. A grant of $600 given to a doctoral student from any nation to encourage the study of Egyptian geo-archaeology and prehistory.

The Birgit Baldwin Fellowship in French Medieval History

The Birgit Baldwin Fellowship in French Medieval History was established in 2004 by John W. Baldwin and Jenny Jochens in memory of their daughter Birgit. It is endowed through the generosity of her family. The Baldwin Fellowship provides a grant of $20,000 to support a graduate student in a North American university who is researching and writing a significant dissertation for the Ph.D. on any subject in French medieval history that can be realized only by sustained research in the archives and libraries of France. The fellowship helps defray research and living expenses for the equivalent of an academic year of study. It may be renewed for a second year upon demonstration of satisfactory progress. The fellowship recipient must devote full time to the dissertation project and may not hold any job or teaching position or work on another project during the term of the fellowship. Undergraduate Academic Scholarships

The Lyford Cay Foundations offer scholarships generally worth $7,500 per annum each. The selection criteria are weighted as follows: Academic merit 35% Financial need 35% Caliber of proposed college or university 10% Field of study 10%

Tadeusz Sendzimir Fund

Provides scholarships to students, preferably of Polish descent, who are studying Polish language, history or culture. Two types of scholarships are available: 1) Academic year awards of up to $5,000, to support ongoing studies at an accredited college or university in the United States or Poland. 2) Summer program scholarships of up to $3,000, to support summer studies abroad at an academic institution/university in Poland.

AIFS Diversity Scholarships

Two AIFS Diversity Scholarships for 50% of the program fee and round trip air fare are awarded, one per semester. Three runner-up AIFS Diversity Scholarships of $2,000 each are also awarded each semester. To be considered for the AIFS Diversity Scholarship, applicants must submit the scholarship application materials in addition to the AIFS study abroad application and the required application fee of $95. AIFS-HACU Scholarships

The purpose of the program is to provide up to $50,000 in scholarships for outstanding Hispanic students to study abroad with AIFS. This special scholarship will be available to students attending HACU member schools. To find out more about HACU, visit www.hacu.net . Scholarship winners can study for a semester (Fall or Spring) on any AIFS program. Awards/Eligibility: Students will receive scholarships of up to 50% of the full program fee. Students must meet all standard AIFS eligibility requirements. Awards will be made by AIFS in conjunction with its Advisory Board.

The Frank Gilford Scholarship

Established in memory of Frank Gilford. One scholarship is available for qualifying students who wish to pursue an education in Jewish studies either locally, elsewhere in the United States or in Israel. Financial need and academic merit will be considered. Education level: Jewish undergraduate and graduate students GPA: 3.0 Undergraduate Test Scores: SAT1000 or ACT24 Graduate Test Scores: GRE v540 q640 a600 or GMAT v32 q35 or equivalent Areas of involvement: Jewish studies, camps, trips, retreats and organizations. Community/civic activities. School-related activities. Hours enrolled/semester: 12/undergraduate, 9/graduate. Giving primarily to Texas.

Lithuanian Foundation Scholarship Program

The Lithuanian Foundation believes that students who are active in their community are developing leadership skills that will benefit them and those around them in the future. The Foundation concentrates its resources on those students who have demonstrated an involvement and volunteerism in the Lithuanian community or in the community at large. As such, the Lithuanian Foundation strives to ensure the continuity of the Lithuanian culture and traditions by contributing to the development of future leaders in the Lithuanian community.FUNDING PRIORITIESThe Lithuanian Foundation is an émigré organization. As such, priorities are given to students studying outside the borders of Lithuania. In some cases, donor members have established special funds to support areas of study in Lithuania proper. Students applying from Lithuania must present documentation that tuition is not paid for by the state.RESTRICTIONSThe Lithuanian Foundation grants scholarships for one academic year at a time. Applicants will need to submit applications each academic year in their degree program. The Foundation will not consider the following types of scholarship requests. 1. Students enrolled in a part-time course of study. Only those enrolled in a full time course of study will be considered. However, special funding is available for students pursuing studies related to Lithuanian language, Lithuanian history, or Lithuanian folklore at an institution of higher learning.2. Students enrolled in associate or certificate program. Only those pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree program will be considered. By exception, special funding is available for students pursuing further non-degree training in the medical field of pathology.3. Students not yet accepted by an accredited college, university or other academic institution. Master’s and Doctoral students who have not received their official acceptance letter may apply by presenting documentation that the application process is in progress. 4. Non-citizen applicants without a valid student visa for the country in which they wish to study.5. Lithuanian citizens enrolled in a Bachelor‘s degree program in Lithuania or a foreign country. These applicants will be considered by exception only. Special funding is available for students from the Karaliaucius/Seiniai region.

The National Italian American Foundation Scholarship Program General Category II

General Category II: Those students from any ethnic background majoring or minoring in Italian language, Italian studies, Italian American studies or a related field, who demonstrate outstanding potential and high academic achievements.Scholarship awards range from $2,000-$12,000. Each scholarship award can only cover tuition and university-provided room and board. Scholarship recipients are eligible for one year of scholarship support. Scholarship monies not used during one academic year are not transferable to the following academic year. Scholarship applicants and winners can and are encouraged to reapply in subsequent years. To be considered for a NIAF scholarship, a student must meet the following criteria:• Be enrolled in an US accredited institution of higher education for the Fall.• Have a grade-point average of at least 3.5 out of 4.0 (or the equivalent).• Be a United States citizen or a permanent resident alien.• Fit into one of the two NIAF scholarship categories.• For the purposes of the NIAF Scholarship Program, to be “Italian American” the student must have at least one ancestor who has immigrated from Italy.No immediate family members of the NIAF Board of Directors, Regional Vice-Presidents, Area Coordinators or staff are eligible for NIAF scholarships.NIAF scholarships are highly competitive and awarded on the basis of academic performance, field of study, career objectives, and the potential, commitment, and abilities applicants have demonstrated that would enable them to make significant contributions to their chosen field of study. Some scholarships are awarded based on financial need.
