Engineering Technologies Scholarships

Here are some of the Engineering Technologies scholarships on our site for which you may qualify.

John R. Lamarsh Scholarship

Undergraduate scholarship for student who have completed two or more years in a course of study leading to a degree in nuclear science, nuclear engineering, or a nuclear-related field. The eligibility requirements are as follows:  You must be an ANS student member (U.S. or non-U.S. citizen) attending a qualified university in the United States.  Completed application with a grade transcript, and three confidential reference forms must be received by February 1. If you feel that you qualify, please fill out the application and mail to the Scholarship Coordinator. The address is found on the application. Robert T. (Bob) Liner Scholarship

Undergraduate scholarship for student who have completed two or more years in a course of study leading to a degree in nuclear science, nuclear engineering, or a nuclear-related field. Operations and Power Division Scholarship

The OPD Scholarship is intended for an undergraduate or graduate student. Applicants: must be enrolled in a course of study leading to a degree in nuclear science or engineering at an accredited institution in the United States. must have completed a minimum of two complete academic years in a four-year nuclear science or engineering program. must be U.S. citizens or possess a permanent resident visa. Academic accomplishments must be substantiated by transcript.

William R. and Mila Kimel Scholarship

Undergraduate scholarship for student who have completed two or more years in a course of study leading to a degree in nuclear science, nuclear engineering, or a nuclear-related field. Robert E. Uhrig Graduate Scholarship

For students pursuing graduate studies in nuclear engineering with a focus in the field of human factors, instrumentation and controls. An applicant for this scholarship must be a full–time graduate student of a North American university engaged in Masters or Ph.D. research into technical aspects of human factors, instrumentation and/or controls. Students of all nationalities are eligible for the Robert E. Uhrig Graduate Scholarship. The Robert E. Uhrig Graduate Scholarship is a $4,000 scholarship given annually to one graduate student in nuclear engineering. The Scholarship focus is on the technical disciplines involved in Nuclear Plant Instrumentation, Controls, and Human–Machine Interface Technologies in the context of nuclear power or other nuclear engineering specific applications.

Robert A. Dannels Scholarship

Available for full-time graduate student in a program leading to an advanced degree in nuclear science, nuclear engineering, or a nuclear-related field. Nomination of handicapped persons is encouraged.

Verne R. Dapp Scholarship

Available for full-time graduate students in a program leading to an advanced degree in nuclear science, nuclear engineering, or a nuclear-related field. Scholarship being offered every odd years.

Walter Meyer Scholarship

Available for full-time graduate students in a program leading to an advanced degree in nuclear science, nuclear engineering, or a nuclear-related field. Scholarship being offered every even years.

Saul Levine Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship available for full-time graduate students in a program leading to an advanced degree in nuclear science, nuclear engineering, or a nuclear-related field.

Nuclear Criticality Safety Pioneers Scholarship

Administered by the NCS Division, this scholarship is in recognition of those individuals who have been identified as being"Pioneers" in the industry and who have made major contributions to nuclear criticality safety. These individuals as well as a brief summary of their significant contributions will be maintained on the NCS division's web site. One scholarship will be awarded to a graduate nuclear science/engineering major, with the desired emphasis on areas supporting nuclear criticality safety. These areas include, but are not limited to, computer code development for neutron transport calculations, critical or subcritical experiments, and neutron cross section evaluation. Evaluation Criteria Contributions to American Nuclear Society (30%) National ANS activities, including meeting attendance and offices held; Student ANS Chapter activities, including all offices held; Local section activities including meeting attendance and offices held; and Other activities that are aligned with ANS objective, such as ones that promote public understanding of nuclear energy/research. Financial Need (20%) A statement of financial need, including special circumstances; The average number of hours per week that the student works for pay, during the school year; The dollar value of all scholarships received for the school year. Professional Accomplishments and Career Objectives (20%) A summary of accomplishments that includes honors, awards, professional work activities, and special interest activities. A description of long-term and short-term professional objectives (especially indication of interest in NCS) Academic Performance (30%) A transcript. Faculty Recommendations - Completed recommendations from three faculty members.

Decommissioning, Decontamination and Reutilization Scholarship (Masters Level)

For students pursuing a degree in engineering or science major with emphasis on:/ Decommissioning/decontamination or, Management/characterization of radioactive waste or, Restoration of the environment or, Nuclear engineering. Special selection criteria, restrictions, and other special requirements (if any): The student must be enrolled in a curriculum of engineering and the scholarship is limited to U.S. citizens who are enrolled in U.S. schools. Applicants for the DD&R Scholarship must submit a description of long-term and short-term professional objectives. The student will join the American Nuclear Society (ANS) and designate the DDR Division as one of his/her professional divisions. The student will commit to participating in the DD&R Division Activities by attending either or both the ANS annual and winter meeting and serving as a student representative at the DD&R Executive Committee meetings at the ANS meeting. The Division will provide funding for the student's travel, including student registration, reasonable transportation, food, and lodging.

NEED Scholarship Award for Community College and Trade School

A $2500 award for students in two-year program is available for applicants planning a career in nuclear science, nuclear engineering, or a nuclear-related field and enrolled or planning to enroll in a college or university located in the United States, but need not be U.S. citizens. Up to four (4) awards will be made per year for students who have a greater than normal financial need.
