Engineering Scholarships

All residents of New York City who attend high schools in New York City's five boroughs are eligible. Students must plan to attend college in the fall immediately following graduation. Students must apply and be accepted to one of the ten colleges associated with Chase Smart Start Scholarship Program. Students in the program must major in one of the following fields of study: business, communications, education, engineering, liberal arts, social science or technology. Legal dependents of Chase employees are not eligible for the Smart Start Program, but continue to be eligible for Chase's scholarships for employee's children.

AFCEA DC awards multiple single-year standard scholarships in the amount of $4,000 each, and one single-year scholarship in the amount of $8,000 to Metro-area high school seniors in the Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia and Maryland area. Second-year students in area community colleges who are entering a four-year college may apply for one-time scholarships of $2,000. Scholarship awards are provided to qualified students pursuing degrees in the C4I-related fields of engineering (electrical, computer, chemical, aerospace or systems); electronics; mathematics; computer science; physics; science education; mathematics education; technology management; or management information systems.

Scholarship applications are reviewed in April and awards are announced in May. Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible: US Citizen. A full-time undergraduate student at an accredited university (freshman, sophomore or junior student). Pursuing a major in engineering, architecture, or environmental science. Student of good character. Applicants should complete the form on the reverse side and attach a narrative specifically addressing the following topics in the order listed: Academic Performance Academic/Professional Goals Financial Need (ability to pay for college; other financial assistance to be received) Extracurricular Activities Summary of Previous Military Service, if any Statement of why applicant should be considered for award Include other comments to assist selection process. Narrative should be type written, no more than two pages, and have no more than 8 lines per topic. The applicant's school counselor, academic advisor, or administrator must endorse each application to verify enrollment. The scholarship will be awarded after college enrollment is confirmed in the school year awarded. The scholarship will be paid directly to the School Registrar.

Eligibility Requirements: A high school senior and a resident of Michigan. A citizen of the United States at the time of application. Have at least a 3.0 grade point average (based on a 4.0 scale) for the 10th and 11th grades. Attain a minimum composite test score of 26 on the American College Testing Program (ACT). Must be enrolled in engineering at a Michigan ABET accredited college or university. Submit a list of senior classes being taken.

The American Public Power Association's Demonstration of Energy-Efficient Developments (DEED) Program is the only research and development program funded by and for public power utilities. Established in 1980, DEED encourages activities that promote energy innovation, improve efficiencies and lower costs of energy to public power customers.Each year, ten $4,000 student research grants and internships are awarded to students conducting research on an energy-related project. To apply, students must meet the following three requirements: 1)Students must be studying an energy-related field, 2) must be studying at an accredited college or university in the U.S. or Canada, 3) must be sponsored by a DEED member utility.Visit DEED's website to find a sponsor, formulate a proposal, and apply to the program for either the February 15 or August 15 deadline.

The Sigma Xi Grants-in-Aid of Research (GIAR) program has been providing undergraduate and graduate students with valuable educational experiences for more than 80 years. By encouraging close working relationships between students and faculty, the program promotes scientific excellence and achievement through hands-on learning.The program awards grants of up to $1,000 to students from all areas of the sciences and engineering. Designated funds from the National Academy of Sciences allow for grants of up to $5,000 for astronomy research and $2,500 for vision related research. Students use the funding to pay for travel expenses to and from a research site, or for purchase of non-standard laboratory equipment necessary to complete a specific research project.While membership in Sigma Xi is not a requirement for applying for funding from the Grants-in-Aid of Research program, approximately 75% of funds are restricted for use by dues paying student members of Sigma Xi or students whose project advisor is a dues paying member of Sigma Xi. Students from any country are eligible to receive funding. Application Deadlines: March 15 and October 15 annually.

The Agency is looking for high school seniors who meet all of these requirements: - U.S. citizen - 18 years of age by 1 April of senior year - 1000 SAT/21 ACT scores or higher - 3.0/4.0 scale high school GPA or higher - Financial need for tuition assistance - Meet the same employment standards as permanent employees

The purpose for this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to those individuals interested in pursuing a career in welding engineering. Eligibility The Donald F. Hastings Scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate student pursuing a minimum four-year bachelors degree in welding engineering (WE) or welding engineering technology (WET); however, priority will be given to welding engineering (WE) students. All applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements. Applicant must be a minimum of eighteen years of age. Applicant must have a minimum high school diploma. Applicant must have a minimum 2.5 overall grade point average. Student may be enrolled full or part time. Proof of financial need is required to qualify. Applicant must submit all required application information. Applicant must be a citizen of the United States and plan to attend an academic institution located within the United States. Priority will be given to those individuals residing or attending school in the states of Ohio and California. (A resident is defined as having lived in the specific area for a minimum of one year.) Applicants may reapply; however, persons who have received this award may reapply and may be granted the award for a maximum of four years. The award will be presented to individuals nationwide. Applicant does not have to be a member of the American Welding Society. The AWS Foundation does not discriminate by age, race, color, national origin, disability, creed, or gender. Selection Applicant will be chosen by the Named Scholarship Selection Committee comprised of five (5) members, which have been selected by the National Educational Scholarship Committee. Selection committee will determine award recipient in February of each year. Recipient will be announced at the National Awards Luncheon. Awards One $2,500 award will be given annually. No awards will be paid directly to the recipient. All awards will be paid directly to the academic institution by the AWS Foundation.

Eligibility The Donald and Shirley Hastings Scholarship will be awarded to a college undergraduate student pursuing a minimum four-year bachelors degree in welding engineering (WE) or welding engineering technology (WET); however, priority will be given to welding engineering (WE) students. All applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements: Applicants must be a minimum of eighteen years of age Applicant must have a minimum high school diploma Applicant must have a 2.5 grade point average overall Proof of financial need is required to qualify. FAFSA must be filed Applicant must submit all required application information Applicant must be a citizen of the United States and plan to attend an academic institution located within the United States Priority will be given to those individuals residing or attending school in the states of Iowa, Ohio, or California. (A resident is defined as having lived in the specified area for a minimum of one year.) Applicants may reapply; however, persons who have received this award may reapply and be granted the award for a maximum of four years.

The purpose for this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to those individuals interested in pursuing a career in welding engineering. Eligibility The John C. Lincoln Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate student pursuing a minimum four-year bachelors degree in welding engineering (WE) or welding engineering technology (WET); however, priority will be given to welding engineering (WE) students. All applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements. Applicant must be a minimum of eighteen years of age. Applicant must have a minimum high school diploma. Applicant must have a minimum 2.5 overall grade point average. Student may be enrolled full or part time. Proof of financial need is required to qualify. Applicant must submit all required application information. Applicant must be a citizen of the United States and plan to attend an academic institution located within the United States. Priority will be given to those individuals residing or attending school in the states of Ohio or Arizona. (A resident is defined as having lived in the specific area for a minimum of one year.) Applicants may reapply; however, persons who have received this award may reapply and may be granted the award for a maximum of four years. The award will be presented to individuals nationwide. Applicant does not have to be a member of the American Welding Society. The AWS Foundation does not discriminate by age, race, color, national origin, disability, creed, or gender. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to an individual interested in pursuing a career in civil engineering, welding engineering, or welding engineering technology. Eligibility The Matsuo Bridge Company, Ltd. of Japan Scholarship will be awarded to a college junior or senior, or a graduate student pursuing a degree in civil engineering, welding engineering, welding engineering technology, or related discipline. All applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements: Applicant must be a minimum of eighteen years of age. Applicant must have a high school diploma. Applicant must have a 3.0 overall grade point average. Student must be enrolled full or part time in an accredited college or university in the United States. Applicant must submit all application information. Note: The award will be available to students nationwide; however, priority will be given to individuals residing in the states of California, Texas, Oregon or Washington. (A resident is defined as having lived in a specified area for a minimum of one year.) The recipient does not have to be a member of the American Welding Society; however, he/she must agree to participate in the AWS Foundation or Matsuo Bridge Company, Ltd. of Japan Sponsored publicity. The AWS Foundation, Inc. does not discriminate by age, race, color, national origin, disability, creed, or gender. Selection The recipient will be chosen by a Selection Committee comprised of five (5) members, selected by the Education Scholarship Committee. The Selection Committee will determine award recipient in February of each year. Recipient will be announced at the National Awards Luncheon. Award One $2,500 award will be given annually.
