Engineering Scholarships
Here are some of the Engineering scholarships on our site for which you may qualify.
Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship
The purpose of the Foundation is to provide a continuing source of highly qualified scientists, mathematicians, and engineers by awarding scholarships to college students who intend to pursue careers in these fields.
GeneTex for Education
GeneTex believes in accelerating scientific advancement and the notion that the genesis of future discoveries begins with the support of young scientists now. The GeneTex Scholarship Program will award a $2000 (USD) scholarship to students pursuing a STEM undergraduate or graduate degree. The scholarship will be awarded to one student twice a year.
PDX Abroad Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who attends a US university/college located Portland, Oregon. Applicants must meet general FEA scholarship eligibility requirements & preferences. Students interested in being considered for this annual scholarship should indicate this through their application forms. This scholarship is made possible by the generous support and fundraising efforts of international educators at PDX Abroad. PDX Abroad is a community of innovators advancing the field of education abroad through active engagement across institutional and organizational boundaries.
Requirements:
Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the U.S.
Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate at a college or university in the U.S.
Must be applying for a study abroad program eligible for credit at the student’s educational institution
Must plan to study abroad for a minimum of 4 weeks in country
Is committed to supporting education abroad in his/her campus community through work with the FEA and his/her campus education abroad staff upon return
Preferences:
Applying to a study abroad program known for its academic rigor and immersion elements
Applying to a study abroad program that includes studying the language of the host country (if not English)
Applying to a study abroad program with a sustainable service-learning or volunteering component
Applying to a study abroad program in a non-traditional destination
Demonstrates financial need
FEA strongly encourages students to apply who represent a group that is traditionally underrepresented in education abroad
Groups typically underrepresented in study abroad include, but are not limited to:
Minorities
First-generation college students
STEM majors
Community college students
Students with disabilities
At-Large Scholars Program
NACME recently introduced its newest scholarship program – At-Large Scholars program. The At-Large Scholars program offers scholarship support to rising second-, third-, and fourth-year underrepresented minority students pursuing engineering degrees at non-partner universities.This competitive award is based on the following four criteria: * academic achievement * financial need * record of community/civic/social involvement * evidence of leadership skillsEach year, NACME awards At-Large scholarships to 10–15 full-time African American, American Indian, and Latino students enrolled in engineering or engineering-related programs at ABET-accredited institutions.Based on cumulative college GPA, each At-Large Scholar receives up to $4,000 per year for a maximum of three years, as follows:Grade Point Average Award Amount3.50 – 4.00 $ 4,0003.00 – 3.49 $ 3,0002.50 – 2.99 $ 2,500
Con Edison/The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art Scholarship
Provide annual financial support that promotes high academic achievement in engineering at The Cooper Union. Two students are selected in their junior year. Recipients are awarded $5,000 each year for up to two years. The minimum grade point average required is 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
George Campbell, Jr. Fellowship in Engineering
Dr. George Campbell, Jr. served as NACME’s president and CEO for 11 years. This scholarship honors Dr. Campbell’s service to the mission and vision of increasing the representation of underrepresented minority students in engineering. One student is selected in the sophomore year. The recipient is awarded $5,000 for up to three years. The minimum grade point average required is 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Sidney and Katherine Friend Scholarship
Joint endowment established between NACME and Polytechnic University. One first-year student is selected and supported for a maximum of five years. The recipient is awarded $2,500 each year. The minimum grade point average required is 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.
Richard Heckert Fellow
Provides up to $20,000 over four years. One student is selected and supported for a maximum of four years. The recipient is awarded $5,000 each year. The minimum grade point average required is 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
William Zeitler Scholarship
This gift is made in recognition of William Zeitler’s outstanding service in support of NACME’s mission. Mr. Zeitler represented IBM on NACME’s Board of Directors for six years. Two students are selected in their sophomore year. The recipients are awarded $5,000 each for up to four years. The minimum grade point average required is 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
William Randolph Hearst Endowment Scholarship
The William Randolph Hearst Foundation supported the creation of this endowed scholarship. Two students are selected in either the first or second year. The recipients are awarded $2,500 each for up to four years. The minimum grade point average required is 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.
Phillip D. Reed Undergraduate Endowment Fellowship
Philip D. Reed endowment fellowship is made possible through an endowment from the Philip D. Reed Foundation. One student is selected in the sophomore year. The award provides $5,000 for up to three years.
The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation's Minority Ph.D. Program
The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation's Minority Ph.D. Program offers substantial scholarship support to underrepresented minority students who are beginning their doctoral work in engineering, natural science and mathematics.Since its establishment in 1995, the Minority Ph.D. Program has supported more than 1000 students. Through the Sloan Indigenous Graduate Partnership Program, eligible American Indian masters and doctoral candidates at the University of Alaska, Anchorage and Fairbanks; The University of Arizona; The University of Montana, Missoula; Montana Tech of The University of Montana; and Purdue University are designated to facilitate their graduate study.NACME currently administers and supports the Alfred P. Sloan Minority Ph.D. and the Sloan Indigenous Graduate Partnership Program, providing application review, selection and confirmation, award notification, disbursement of payments, and data management for more than 50 departments at more than 34 institutions.
