Engineering Scholarships

The purpose for this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to those individuals interested in pursuing a career in welding engineering technology, or welding engineering. Eligibility The Miller Electric Mfg. Co. Scholarship will be awarded to a full-time undergraduate student who will be a senior in a four-year bachelors degree in welding engineering technology (WET) or welding engineering (WE); however, priority will be given to welding engineering technology (WET) students. All applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements: * Applicant must be a minimum of eighteen years of age. * Applicant must be a current junior in a welding engineering technology (WET) or welding engineering (WE) program. * Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade point average. * Student must be enrolled full time (12 credits per semester minimum). * Financial need is not required to qualify. * Applicant must submit all required application information. * Applicant must be a citizen of the United States and plan to attend an academic institution located within the United States. * The award is one time only, and is non-renewable. * Priority will be given to the student who exhibits a strong interest in welding equipment and has prior work experience in the welding equipment field. * Priority will be given to those individuals attending Ferris State University. Selection The recipient will be chosen by a Selection Committee comprised of five (5) members, selected by the Education Scholarship Committee. The Selection Committee will determine award recipient in March of each year. Recipient will be announced at the National Awards Luncheon. Awards Two (2) $3,000 awards will be given annually. No awards will be paid to the recipient. Awards are for tuition and fees only, and will be paid directly to the academic institution by the AWS Foundation. The award will be presented to individuals nationwide. Applicant does not have to be a member of the American Welding Society, but is preferred. The purpose for this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to those individuals who express an interest in the resistance welding process while pursuing a career in welding engineering. Eligibility This scholarship is available to U. S. and Canadian citizens who are students majoring in Welding Engineering or Welding Engineering Technology. These students must be in good academic standing and meet the following criteria. 1. Junior level student in a four-year program only. 2. Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade point average. 3. Financial need is not required. 4. Applicant must be a citizen of the United States or Canada, and plan to attend an academic institution located within the United States or Canada. 5. Applicant must be working towards a four-year degree in Welding Engineering or Welding Engineering Technology. 6. Applicant must submit a completed application. 7. Applicant must provide an essay of 500 words or less about why the student wishes to become involved in the resistance welding industry. 8. Candidates must submit a letter of recommendation from a faculty member or an Academic Advisor using the RWMA Scholarship Recommendation form. 9. Candidates must submit a second letter of recommendation from another party, such as an employer, using the RWMA Scholarship Recommendation form. 10. Candidates must submit a personal statement to include the following information: demonstrated timeliness and completion of assignments, creativity in solving problems, demonstrated responsibility on own initiative, ability to work well with others, organization skills (ability to handle multiple tasks, time management), participation in class, campus and outside organizations, participation in AWS Student and Section activities, and career objectives.

The Amos and Marilyn Winsand-Detroit Section Named Scholarship has been established, and is sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Winsand and the AWS Detroit Section. Mr. Winsand is an AWS Foundation Trustee and former AWS Treasurer. The recipient must be enrolled in a two or four-year program, and be a resident of Michigan or attend a Michigan college. The Scholarship is for an Associate or Bachelors degree in Welding Engineering, Welding Engineering Technology, or a related field, and the funds are for tuition, books, and/or lab fees.

To provide financial assistance to International students wishing to pursue their education in welding and related joining technologies who are not assigned to an AWS section. Eligibility Overview International Scholarships will be awarded to full time international students pursuing undergraduate or graduate studies in joining sciences. Applicants can be matriculating in accredited joining science programs at institutions anywhere in the world. Student must be in the top 20% of the institution

Eligible applicants will be graduates or graduating seniors of Battle Creek area schools who will be pursuing a degree in engineering at Notre Dame University. Recipient will be academically inclined. Other criteria will be based upon GPA/ACT scores and students service to the community. Financial need is not necessary. Criteria: All applicants must be seeking an associate's degree, bachelor's degree or graduate degree in manufacturing, mechanical, or industrial engineering, engineering technology, or industrial technology at an accredited public or private college or university in Kansas. Scholarship applicants must possess an overall minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 point scale. When making the selection of recipients, the scholarship committee will give consideration to the following preferences: First preference will be given to scholarship applicants who are a child, grandchild, or relative of a current SME Wichita Chapter No. 52 member. Second preference will be given to scholarship applicants who reside within the state of Kansas. Third preference will be given to scholarship applicants who are planning to attend a college or university located in the state of Kansas

Criteria: All applicants must be seeking a bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing technology or integrated manufacturing systems degree program. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale. When making the selection of recipients, the scholarship committee will give consideration to the following preferences: First preference will be given to scholarship applicants who are residents of the state of Michigan. Second preference will be given to scholarship applicants who are seeking their education from a college or university in the state of Michigan.

SpecPro Scholarship at $10,000 per year & potentially renewable for up to 4 _ years. The foundation awards college and vocational scholarships to Alaska Native shareholders of Bristol Bay Native Corporation. Established to provide an opportunity for higher education and career development and to encourage interest in careers relevant to SpecPro company technical and management fields. Eligibility Requirements: *BBNC shareholder *entering freshman enrolled at an accredited college or university *full time/degree seeking student with an engineering, environmental, marketing, management, information technology, life science or other appropriate field of study *cumulative 3.0 grade point average or better.

Scholarship awards to current Delaware residents, who were born in the state, and who are studying chemistry, engineering, law, medicine, or dentistry and demonstrate financial need. Application form required. Initial approach: Letter

Be a junior, senior, or graduate student at Ball State University, Purdue University, University of Evansville, Tri-State University, or Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology

Purpose: The purpose for this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to those individuals interested in pursuing a career in welding engineering. Eligibility: The Howard E. and Wilma J. Adkins Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a full-time junior or senior level student pursuing a minimum four-year bachelor's degree in welding engineering (WE) or welding engineering technology (WET); however, priority will be given to welding engineering (WE) students. All applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements. Applicant must be a minimum of eighteen years of age. Applicant must have a minimum high school diploma. Applicant must have completed enough academic credits to qualify for junior level status. Applicant must have a minimum 3.20 grade point average in the engineering, scientific and technical subjects and 2.80 grade point average overall. No financial need is required to qualify. Applicant must submit all required application information. Applicant must be a citizen of the United States and plan to attend an academic institution located within the United States. Priority will be given to those individuals residing or attending school in the states of Wisconsin or Kentucky. (A resident is defined as having lived in the specific area for a minimum of one year.) Applicants may reapply; however, persons who have received this award may reapply and may be granted the award for a maximum of two years. The award will be presented to individuals nationwide. Applicant does not have to be a member of the American Welding Society. The AWS Foundation does not discriminate by age, race, color, national origin, disability, creed, or gender. Selection Applicant will be chosen by the Named Scholarship Selection Committee comprised of five (5) members, which have been selected by the National Educational Scholarship Committee. Selection committee will determine award recipient in February of each year. Recipient will be announced at the National Awards Luncheon. Awards One $2,500 award will be given annually. No awards will be paid directly to the recipient. All awards will be paid directly to the academic institution by the AWS Foundation.
