Reuben Lee Kwai Brandt Scholarship
Demonstrated interest and aptitude for science and engineering
General criteria:
• Must be a classified undergraduate student
• Enrolled in a degree-seeking program, unless specifically noted
• Enrolled in a two- or four-year, accredited* college institution in Hawai`i or the continental U.S.
• Full-time status, unless specifically noted
• Demonstrate interest in Hawaiian language, culture, history
• Demonstrate a commitment to contribute to the greater community.

Applications are open to the general public. However, it is the policy of the Pauahi Foundation to give preference to applicants of Hawaiian ancestry to the extent permitted by law.
AIST David H. Samson Canadian Scholarship
Objectives: The objectives of the AIST David H. Samson Canadian Scholarship are to reward and encourage Canadian students with scientific abilities to prepare for a career in engineering by providing financial support during attendance at a Canadian institution of higher education.Awards – One Scholarship, valued at US$2000 per year, is available each year for a maximum of four consecutive years or until graduation, whichever occurs first.Eligibility – Students eligible to compete for the Scholarship must, at the time of application, be the children (natural, adopted or ward) of a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant who is a member, in good standing, of the Association for Iron & Steel Technology. The student must also be accepted in an eligible full-time course at an accredited Canadian university or college studying engineering. If there is no engineering applicant, the award will be made to an eligible student studying chemistry, geology, mathematics or physics. Consideration will be given to extracurricular activities. The Scholarship may be awarded to a student entering a community college if there is no eligible student entering an accredited university.
AIST Globetrotters Chapter Scholarships
Objectives The AIST Globe-Trotters Member Chapter Scholarship award is intended to reward and attract talented and dedicated students and encourage them to pursue careers within the iron and steel industry. The AIST Globe-Trotters Member Chapter administers the scholarship.Awards – Each year, the Globe-Trotters will award up to 4 scholarships at $2,500 each for one year.Eligibility – To be eligible for the scholarship, the applicant must be the child or grandchild of an active Globe-Trotters chapter member in good standing. The candidate for the scholarship must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university. Students enrolled in postgraduate schools will also be considered. The awards will be made without regard to financial need.
Alfred B. Glossbrenner Scholarship
Objectives The Alfred B. Glossbrenner Scholarship was established in 1988, in honor of the founding chairman of the AISE Canton District Section. In 1996, the Executive Committee of AISE Canton Section voted to award a second scholarship in honor of John Klusch for more than 35 years as Canton Section Secretary.Awards – The amount of each (2) scholarship will be determined by the Finance Committee, but each award will not be less than $1,000 each.Eligibility – Students eligible to compete for the Scholarship must, at the time of application, be the children (natural, step-children, adopted or ward) of a United States citizen or landed immigrant who is a member, in good standing and paid for the past two years, of the Association for Iron & Steel Technology. The student must also be accepted in an eligible full-time course at an accredited North American university or college studying engineering or metallurgy.
John Klusch Scholarship

AIST Northwest Chapter Scholarship
Objectives The objectives of the AIST Northwest Member Chapter Scholarship are to reward and encourage a Pacific Northwest area student for their achievements and encourage them to consider the steel industry when selecting a career path.Awards – Two scholarships, valued at $1,000 eachEligibility – A student is eligible to apply for the scholarship if they are the child, grandchild (natural, adopted or ward), spouse, niece/nephew of an AIST Northwest Chapter Member in good standing. Members of the Material Advantage program are also eligible. The student must be enrolled full-time at a college or university for the fall semester of the year of the application to be eligible.Selection – The scholarship applications are reviewed by the Scholarship Award Committee. This committee consists of the Scholarship Chair, Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary of the AIST Northwest Chapter. At the discretion of the committee, a representative of a university or college (not affiliated with AIST) may be consulted. The actual selection of the scholarship winner will be made solely by the committee. The decision of the Committee is final. This award will be made without regard for financial need.
AIST Ohio Valley Chapter Scholarship
Objectives Administered by the AIST Ohio Valley Member Chapter, available to students who are dependents of Ohio Valley Member Chapter members or to student members pursuing an education in engineering, metallurgy, physical science, computer technology or an engineering technology field.Awards – One or two US$1000 scholarships will be awarded. The scholarships are renewable for a total scholarship of four years at $1,000 per year.Eligibility – The student must be the child (including step-children, adopted children or wards) of a member in good standing of the Ohio Valley Chapter of the AIST or a Student member in good standing. The student must be accepted into, planning to attend, or currently enrolled in an eligible, full-time curriculum at an accredited university or college. Degrees eligible for the AIST scholarship include: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering / Engineering Technology, Environmental Engineering / Sciences, Metallurgy, Physical Sciences, Computer Technology, Computer Programming, Information Systems Technology, Chemistry, Biology / Microbiology, Physics, Other Engineering-Related fields, or other related fields approved by the committee.
Astronaut Scholarship Foundation - Scholarship Program
* The Astronaut Scholarship Foundation was created to ensure that the United States would maintain its leadership in science and technology in the future by supporting promising students in science and engineering. * Scholarship candidates must be nominated by faculty members. Students may not apply directly for the scholarship. * Scholarship nominees must be U.S. citizens. * Scholarship nominees must be engineering or natural or applied science (e.g. astronomy, biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, computer science) or mathematics students with intentions to pursue research or advance their field upon completion of their final degrees. Students intending to pursue a practice in professional medicine are not eligible for the scholarship. However, those intending to perform biomedical research are eligible. * At the time of nomination, scholarship candidates must be at least second year (sophomore) college students, have excellent grades, and have participated in lab and research work in their field. With this background, the student is fairly well committed to continuing on this course. * The Astronaut Scholarship is awarded only to students during their junior or senior year, or to Masters students. In some cases students may carry their awards to a second year. * Scholarship nominees are those students who have shown initiative, creativity, and excellence in their chosen field. Special consideration is not given to aeronautical/astronautical engineering students or those intending to pursue careers as astronauts. * Scholarship nominees and recipients must be attending one of the following cooperating educational institutions: o Georgia Institute of Technology o Harvey Mudd College o Miami University (Ohio) o North Carolina A&T State University o North Carolina State University o North Dakota State University o Pennsylvania State University o Purdue University o Syracuse University o Texas A&M University o Tufts University o University of Central Florida o University of Colorado o University of Kentucky o University of Michigan o University of Minnesota o University of Oklahoma o University of Washington o Washington University (St. Louis) * The scholarship candidates are nominated by faculty in their department to a university-wide committee. The university committee selects their best two candidates and submits these nominees to the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation Scholarship Committee. * The ASF Scholarship Committee selects one recipient from each school and presents the candidates to the ASF Board of Directors for approval. If both nominees from a school are deemed unqualified, the scholarship will not be awarded to the school.
Audio Engineering Society Educational Foundation, Inc. - Scholarship
The Audio Engineering Society Educational Foundation is dedicated to encouraging the entry of talented students into the profession of audio engineering and related fields. Since its establishment in 1984, the Foundation has awarded grants for graduate studies to exceptional applicants, many of whom have gone on to prominent and successful careers in the profession. Applications are accepted from students worldwide. All applicants are required to have met these criteria: * The successful completion of an undergraduate degree program (typically four years) at a recognized college or university. * A demonstrated commitment to audio engineering (or related field) as a career choice. * Acceptance or a pending application for graduate studies leading to a masters or higher degree, or an internationally recognized equivalent. Awards are made annually, in August, and a recipient may apply for one-time renewal after the successful completion of at least one year of graduate studies. Payment will be sent directly to the graduate school on behalf of the students tuition account. The applicant will be responsible for submitting a complete application package which includes two current letters of recommendation, one of which must be from the applicants major professor or academic advisor, and the second from another faculty member or a distinguished professional in the field. Recommendations should attest to applicants suitability for graduate studies in audio engineering or a related field. Request for a renewal grant should be made by a letter which summarizes applicants achievements during the past year of graduate studies. The request must be accompanied by two letters of recommendation, one of which must be from the students major professor or advisor. Recommendations should attest to the applicants satisfactory progress toward the degree. Applications, recommendations and other materials must be typewritten or printed clearly. Elaborate presentations or CDs (which cannot be photocopied) will not be accepted. Email may be used for informal communications but not for applications or letters of recommendation. Incomplete applications, late applications and applications for vocational training will not be considered or acknowledged.
Airgas - Jerry Baker Scholarship
The purpose for this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to those individuals interested in pursuing a career in welding engineering.
Eligibility
The Airgas Jerry Baker Scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate student pursuing a minimum four-year bachelors degree in welding engineering (WE) or welding engineering technology (WET); however, priority will be given to welding engineering (WE) students interested in pursuing a career with an industrial gas or welding equipment distributor. All applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements.
Applicant must be a minimum of eighteen years of age.
Applicant must have a minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
Applicant must be a full-time student as defined by the academic institution.
Applicant must have at least a 2.8 overall grade point average with a 3.0 grade point average in engineering courses.
Financial need is not required; however, priority will be given to those individuals demonstrating a financial need.
Priority will be given to those individuals who demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career with an industrial gas or welding equipment distributor by prior work experience, clubs, organizations or extra-curricular activities.
Applicant must be a citizen of the United States or Canada and plan to attend an academic institution located within the United States or Canada.
Applicant must submit all required application information.
Priority will be given to those individuals residing or attending school in the states of Alabama, Georgia or Florida. (A resident is defined as having lived in the specified area for a minimum of one year.)
Applicants may reapply; however, persons who have received this award may reapply and may be granted the award for a maximum of four years.
The award will be presented to individuals nationwide. Applicant does not have to be a member of the American Welding Society.
The AWS Foundation does not discriminate by age, race, color, national origin, disability, creed, or gender.
Selection
The recipient will be chosen by a Selection Committee comprised of five (5) members, selected by the Education Scholarship Committee.
The Selection Committee will determine award recipient in February of each year. Recipient will be announced at the National Awards Luncheon.
Awards
One $2,500 award will be given annually. No recipient shall receive more than one AWS National Scholarship award per year.
No awards will be paid to the recipient. All awards are for tuition and books only, and will be paid directly to the academic institution by the AWS Foundation.
Jack R. Barckhoff Welding Management Scholarship
The purpose for this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to those individuals interested in pursuing a career in welding engineering while attending The Ohio State University. Eligibility The Jack R. Barckhoff Welding Management Scholarship will be awarded to a college junior pursuing a minimum four-year bachelors degree in welding engineering (WE) at The Ohio State University. All applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements. 1. Applicant must be a minimum of eighteen years of age. 2. Applicant must have a minimum 2.5 overall grade point average. 3. Applicant must be a junior currently enrolled in the welding engineering program at The Ohio State University. 4. Applicant will be expected to enroll and complete the 2-hour credit course in Total Welding Management at The Ohio State University during his/her Senior Year. 5. Applicant must submit all required application information. 6. Applicants must be citizens of the United States of America. 7. Applicants not receiving the award are eligible to reapply. 8. Award recipients may reapply and are eligible to receive the award for a maximum of two years. 9. Applicant must complete a 300-500 word essay on how they see their role once they have graduated in improving the world of welding and the welding industry in the United States. And, how will they use their education to improve the U. S. competitive position in welding and manufacturing. Two awards for $2,500 each are available.
Hypertherm - International HyTech Leadership Scholarship
Awarded to a graduate student pursuing an advanced degree in engineering management within the welding and cutting industry. Applicant must have completed a Bachelor of Science degree or be in the final year, and have been accepted for graduate work in engineering management at an accredited graduate school. Applicant must have graduated within a minimum overall grade point average of 2.8. Financial need is not required, however, priority will be given to those demonstrating a financial need. The applicant must complete a personal statement with text addressing a proposed advanced academic and post-academic plans. The applicant may be citizen of any country and plan to attend an academic institution located in any country. The award is $2,500, and is granted on an annual basis. The application deadline is January 15, for the following fall term. (Please confirm with the foundation the deadline upon filing an application.) Funding is made available June 1- May 31.
