Engineering Scholarships

An applicant must be a graduate or undergraduate student who has completed or will complete two academic years of college before the term of the scholarship. The individual must be a full time student pursuing work at an accredited institution, toward the fulfillment of requirements for an degree. Basis of Selection: This scholarship is granted by the society to a student or students of photographic or imaging science or engineering for use in continuing their studies as graduate or undergraduate students. This grant is made for academic study or research in the theory or practice of image formation by radient energy..

This scholarship epitomizes NSBE's mission statement to increase the number of black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community. This scholarship is supported solely by the NSBE members and donations. The number of Fulfilling the Legacy Scholarships to be awarded will be determined by the amount of money donated by the membership and contributors. Sixty percent of the fund is allocated to scholarship awards; the remaining forty percent will go into an ongoing scholarship endowment. All NSBE undergraduate and graduate student members are eligible to apply. Award recipients will be selected from a combination of the following criteria: University academic achievement, service to NSBE (local, regional, and/or national), and other professional, campus and community activities.

The SWE Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to women admitted to accredited baccalaureate or graduate programs, in preparation for careers in engineering, engineering technology and computer science. A one-time only graduate student scholarship to recognize SWE's Executive Director & CEO Betty Shanahan's outstanding accomplishment over 10 year's of service. SWE membership required. You must be planning to attend full time (exceptions are made for reentry and non-traditional applicants). You must not be fully funded for tuition, fees, and books and equivalent.

US Citizenship & SWE membership required. Leadership roles outside of academics and involvement in engineering professional organizations, discipline related internships, presentation skills. Recipients willing to intern at GE. 20 @ $5,000. Established in 1978 to memorialize the Society's twelfth president, assists women in obtaining the credentials to reenter the job market as engineers. Eligibility is restricted to women who have been out of the engineering job market as well as out of school for a minimum of two years prior to reentry. Recipient may be entering any undergraduate or graduate year, including doctoral programs, as full or part time students. All SWE scholarships are open only to women majoring in engineering or computer science in a college or university with an ABET-accredited program or in a SWE-approved school, and who will be in a specified year of study during the academic year the grant payment is made.

Awarded since 1958 to a junior or senior woman engineering or computer science student of outstanding potential and achievement. Dr. Gilbreth, in whose honor the scholarship was named, was well known for the many contributions which she made to the field of industrial engineering and management. Minimum GPA is 3.0. All SWE scholarships are open only to women majoring in engineering or computer science in a college or university with an ABET-accredited program or in a SWE-approved school, and who will be in a specified year of study during the academic year the grant payment is made. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.5/4.0 or above.

Established in 1986 to honor a past chair of SWE Board of Trustees, the scholarship is awarded to a female engineering or computer science student entering her junior or senior year. The applicant must demonstrate financial need. Minimum GPA is 3.0. All SWE scholarships are open only to women majoring in engineering or computer science in a college or university with an ABET-accredited program or in a SWE-approved school, and who will be in a specified year of study during the academic year the grant payment is made. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.5/4.0 or above.

Established in 1971 by the Men's Auxiliary of the Society of Women Engineers and augmented in recent years through significant contributions from the Tremont Trust in memory of Winifred Demarest Gifford White, SWE's first Executive Secretary. The awards are presented to engineering or computer science students entering their sophomore, junior or senior years and who demonstrate outstanding scholarship and financial need. Minimum GPA is 3.0. All SWE scholarships are open only to women majoring in engineering or computer science in a college or university with an ABET-accredited program or in a SWE-approved school, and who will be in a specified year of study during the academic year the grant payment is made. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.5/4.0 or above.

Was established in 1988 in memory of astronaut and active SWE member Judith Resnik who lost her life aboard the Challenger space shuttle. The scholarship is awarded to a student entering her senior year majoring in aerospace, aeronautical or astronautical engineering who is also an active SWE Student Member. Minimum GPA is 3.0. All SWE scholarships are open only to women majoring in engineering or computer science in a college or university with an ABET-accredited program or in a SWE-approved school, and who will be in a specified year of study during the academic year the grant payment is made. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.5/4.0 or above.
