Jay Murphy Scholarship
Designed to provide financial aid to deserving individuals who have the desire to become teachers, who relate well with young people, and who can benefit from the financial assistance it offers. Applicants may be entering or continuing college, individuals who are in education and want to upgrade their skills, or working individuals who wish to return to college to become teachers. Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA. Finalists may interview with the selection committee.
Available to seniors graduating from any Montgomery County High School
Evelyn Lenander Education Fund
This scholarship program is intended to assist students who have completed two full years of college and are currently accepted in a Minnesota College or university program leading to a degree in Elementary Education. Preference will be given to permanent residents living within a 25 miles radius of Buffalo Lake and then eligibility will be expanded to include other students from central Minnesota. All applicants should be permanent residents of the state of Minnesota. Recipients must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Applicants must submit the application form to the Foundation. APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCEDURES Completed application forms will be reviewed and evaluated by the Evelyn Lenander Scholarship Award Advisory Committee. The Advisory Committee will recommend to the Board of Directors the scholarships to award from the fund.
William & Hazel Hardin Education Scholarship
For rising college Junior and Senior students pursuing a degree in preschool, elementary or secondary education. For residents of Gaston, Randolph or Richmond counties. Based on character, academic achievement, financial need and desire to work with children.
Willamena Ribbink Memorial Scholarship
Criteria: Available to Rochester, Adams and Stoney Creek seniors pursuing teaching career. Must demonstrate financial need; have minimum 2.0 GPA. Award: $500 Biography: Willamena Ribbink (1905-1992) worked as a teacher of business practices and counselor for 35 years at the Rochester Community Schools.
Byron and Bessie Wightman Memorial Scholarship
There will be two Scholarships for $1,500.00 each. These scholarships shall be $1,000.00 scholarships for the sophomore or junior year with an additional $500.00 to be available for said recipient in the following year, in the event the student has met the following criteria:Must have completed at least 30 hours of college without less than a 3.2 grade point average while attending any accredited four-year college within or outside the State of Nebraska.The scholarship shall be based upon both need and scholastic achievement, with factors to be considered as set forth below.At least one scholarship shall be awarded to a minority student.Preference shall be given to any student with (1) a demonstrated interest in teaching in Lexington's dual-language elementary program; (2) an interest in a career in public service with a demonstrated history of volunteerism; or (3) students who have received freshman Foundation ScholarshipsThe scholarship application deadline is June 30th each year and shall be awarded by July 20 for disbursement in the fall of that year and each subsequent year.Applications may be made after completion of freshman or sophomore year, the application to include the student's college transcript from all prior years, and to include at least two recommendations from college instructors that have had the student in class.Criterion and consideration shall be as follows:Scholarship 45%Need 40%Preference (1) above 10%Preference (2) above 5%Preference (3) above 5%
Sams, Earl C. Foundation Scholarship

Elementary Education Scholarship
Recipient must be a junior with at least a 3.2 overall GPA on a 4.0 scale; students are nominated by the faculty for the scholarship, and the Departmental Honors Committee selects the students to be awarded this scholarship.
Helen Green Scholarship
Recipient shall be a full-time student enrolled at BSU either completing junior status in their undergraduate studies and majoring in one of the certification programs offered by the Department of Elementary Education; or be enrolled in a graduate program in elementary education/early childhood, or reading, shall have evidenced dedication and enthusiasm to enriching children's lives through reading and children's literature by: enrollment in reading, language arts, and children's literature courses; interest in completion of an endorsement in reading; dedicated efforts through volunteer involvement, class work, or faculty recommendation; shall be of high moral character and have a GPA of 3.3 in major.
Elementary Education Overseas Scholarship
Recipient(s) must be elementary education majors; minimum of an overall GPA of 2.75 and a GPA of 3.0 in EDEL 100 and 200; recommended by the Department of Elementary Education.
Betty Lee Dickey Goodrick Scholarship
Recipient must be a full-time BSU sophomore, junior, or senior majoring in Elementary Education; must demonstrate financial need; minimum GPA of at least 3.0 overall shall be a resident of Indiana at the time of the award.
The Second Effort Scholarship
The student shall have completed at least 45 semester hours, but not more than 95 semester hours; recipient must demonstrate outstanding improvement of his/her cumulative GPA since matriculation; recipient must have earned a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
R. Ann Williams Scholarship for Single Parents
Recipient shall be a single parent who have legal and financial responsibility for a child under the age of 18; must be part-time students pursing a graduate degree in the Department of Elementary Education; scholarship can be renewed providing the student meets the criteria; demonstrated financial need; more than one student may receive this scholarship if adequate funds are available.
