Electrical Engineering Scholarships

Awarded to entering sophomore women in mechanical or electrical engineering, these scholarships are renewable for two additional years. All SWE scholarships are open only to women majoring in engineering or computer science in a college or university with an ABET-accredited program or in a SWE-approved school, and who will be in a specified year of study during the academic year the grant payment is made. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0/4.0 or above.

The two awards presented each year are renewable for two years. Recipients must be U.S. citizens entering their sophomore year and majoring in electrical or mechanical engineering. All SWE scholarships are open only to women majoring in engineering or computer science in a college or university with an ABET-accredited program or in a SWE-approved school, and who will be in a specified year of study during the academic year the grant payment is made. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.5/4.0 or above.

1. A full-time student and major in metallurgy, metallurgical engineering or materials science. Other majors will be considered when application is accompanied by letter from academic advisor on official letterhead regarding program's preparation for advancement of steel production, steel application or the use of steel in material design. 2. Applicants should have a genuine interest in a career in ferrous-related industries as demonstrated by internship, co-op or related experiences and/or demonstrable plans to pursue such experience during college. 3. Junior and senior applicants should have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale within declared major. Undeclared students should have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale. 4. Applicants should be unquestionably high moral character and demonstrate leadership abilities. 5. Financial need is considered but is not a major factor.

Program Description:The HSF/Hormel Scholarship Program is a scholarship of $2,500 awarded for applicants interested in a career in the food industry.In addition, interested students can apply to be considered for a paid internship. Eligibility Requirements: * Be of Hispanic heritage * Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States with a valid Social Security Number at the time of application. All legal permanent residents must submit a copy of their valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 (not expired) * Have a permanent address in one of the following Midwest states: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin * Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale * Be a Junior with an intended graduation date between December and August * Be majoring in Accounting, Mechanical Engineering (includes Mechanical Technology), Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering/Technology (includes Industrial Management) Manufacturing Engineering, Business Administration (includes Operations), Management, Agriculture Science/Agronomy (includes Agriculture Engineering, Agribusiness, Ag Economics, Food Service), Computer Science, Information Technology (IT/MIS) (includes Computer Information Systems), Zoology (includes Animal Science), Marketing (includes Professional Selling), Hospitality Administration (includes Hotel/Restaurant Management) or related majors * Must apply for federal financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Program Description:The HSF/Marathon Oil Corporation Scholarship Program is a scholarship of up to $15,000 per year. Selected students may receive up to $15,000 for two academic years for a possible total award of $30,000.In addition, scholars will be offered the opportunity to participate in a possible paid 8-10 week summer internship at various Marathon Oil Corporation locations. Scholars will also be paired with a Marathon Oil Corporation employee who will serve as a professional mentor.Eligibility Requirements: * Be of Hispanic American, African American, Asian Pacific Islander American, or American Indian/Alaskan Native heritage. * Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States with a valid Social Security Number at the time of application. All legal permanent residents must submit a copy of their valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551. * Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale. * Be a current Sophomore majoring in Accounting, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Energy Management or Petroleum Land Management, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, Finance, Geology, Geophysics, Geotechnical Engineering, Global Procurement or Supply Chain Management, Information Technology (IT/MIS), Marketing, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or Transportation & Logistics. * Or be a current Senior planning to enroll in a Master's degree program in Geology or Geophysics. * Must apply for federal financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Program Description:The HSF/Monsanto Fund Scholarship Program is a scholarship of $10,000 per year. Selected students will receive $10,000 for one academic year, renewable the following year upon confirmation of continued eligibility. Although not a requirement, preference will be given to students who are participants of a College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP).Eligibility Requirements: * Be of Hispanic American heritage * Be a U.S. Citizen or a legal permanent resident of the United States with a valid Social Security Number at the time of application. Program Description:The HSF/Qualcomm Q Awards Scholarship Program provides scholarships of $5,000. Description The HSF/VAMOS Scholarship Program is designed to assist high school seniors of Hispanic heritage from Cameron, Hidalgo, and Starr counties in Texas obtain a bachelor's degree. Selected students attending UT-Pan American may receive $3,000 per year. All others may receive up to $5,000 per year for four academic years. Eligibility Requirements: Be of Hispanic heritage Be a U.S. Citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 (not expired). Program Description: The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) and General Motors (GM) have partnered to provide financial resources to assist outstanding Latinos pursuing degrees in Engineering and Business. The award amount is $2,500. Eligibility Requirements: Be of Hispanic heritage. Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 (not expired). Be enrolled full-time in a degree-seeking program at a four-year U.S. accredited college or university in the U.S., Puerto Rico, or U.S. Virgin Islands for the upcoming academic year (enrollment is verified in the Fall). Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent). Be majoring in Engineering (electrical, industrial, manufacturing and mechanical) or Business (accounting, business administration, economics and finance). Must complete the GM Online Assessment (required of semifinalist only).

To allow selected enlisted Air Force personnel to earn a bachelor's degree in approved majors by providing financial assistance for full-time college study. Amount Awarded: $15000 Number Awarded: 35 each year. Duration: Until completion of a bachelor's degree, or up to 3 years (whichever is sooner). Deadline: Applications must be submitted to the base education service officer, who must forward them by the middle of January of each year. Eligibility: Eligible to participate in this program are enlisted members of the Air Force who have been accepted at a university or college (or approved cross-town institution) that is associated with AFROTC and that offers an approved major. The majors currently supported are computer engineering, electrical engineering, meteorology, nursing, foreign languages, and foreign area studies. Applicants must have completed 1 year of college study with a GPA of at least 3.0 and must be medically qualified. They must be younger than 30 years of age or otherwise able to be commissioned before they become 35 years of age. Additional Information: Upon completing their degree, selectees attend officer training school and are then commissioned to serve in the Air Force in their area of specialization.
