Electrical Engineering Scholarships

Two $2,000 cash award scholarships are available to undergraduate and graduate students majoring in metallurgy, materials science and engineering or materials processing/extraction programs. The recipients of these scholarships will be chosen by a specially appointed selection committee of the TMS Student Affairs Commitee and the International Symposium on Superalloys Organizing Committee. A $2,000 stipend will be awarded to each of the recipients at the TMS Fall Conference. Preference will be given to students pursuing a curriculum/career in superalloys. The following criteria will be assessed by the Scholarship Selection Committee to select the recipients of this scholarship: - Scholarship Application - Academic Achievement - Activities in and out of school, including work experience - Leadership - Personal Profile Statement - Letters of Recommendation All applicants must be TMS student members. Students not currently holding memberships may enclose with their scholarship entry a completed membership application, with dues payment, to become eligible. Students from any country are eligible. Applicants must be enrolled full time in a metallurgical/materials science engineering program at a qualified college or university. Relative of members of the TMS Student Affairs Committee or of the funding committee/ division are not eligible.

The recipients of the TMS/SMD Scholarship will be chosen by a specially-appointed selection committee of the TMS Student Affairs Committee. The scholarship recipient will be known as an SMD Scholar. A $2,500 stipend will be awarded to the recipients at the site of the TMS Annual Meeting. Additionally, the scholarship recipient will be given up to $500 for travel expenses to the TMS Annual Meeting to accept his/her award. Preference will be given to undergraduate applicants in their senior year, enrolled full time in an engineering program relating to the structure, property and processing of materials. The IEEE Regional Activities Board (RAB) implemented this award in 1986 to recognize annually, in each Region of the IEEE, the student most responsible for an extraordinary accomplishment associated with student activities. Applicants must be IEEE Student members at the time of the accomplishment. Winners receive an award plaque and three years free membership in IEEE.

Four Individuals $3,000 scholarships for one academic year. Full-time graduate students, Juniors and Seniors in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or well-defined computer related fields who are active members of the Computer Society Student Branch Chapter at their institution. Minimum overall grade point average should be 2.5. Basis for Judging: Involvement in Branch Chapter activities (counts 40%), academic achievement (counts 30%), other extracurricular activities in college (counts 10%), and letter of evaluation by Branch Chapter Advisor (counts 20%).

This $2,500 scholarship is being awarded by ASNT to a student enrolled in course work related to nondestructive testing (NDT) in a program of study leading to an undergraduate degree, an associate degree or a post-secondary certificate. The scholarship is awarded to the student submitting the best original manuscript on nondestructive testing. The manuscript should develop an original concept in NDT and may be based on practical experience, laboratory work or library research. Papers may be classroom assignments for work outside NDT, such as an English class. Because the award may be made after the completion of studies, there is no requirement that the student use the funds for school expenses. It is not necessary for an applicant to attend ASNT's Fall Conference to be eligible for the scholarship.

Student Eligibility: Scholarships are awarded to incoming freshmen enrolled in the engineering program and who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and potential. Terms: One $2,000 scholarship will be awarded. This scholarship is renewable for the sophomore year contingent on continued enrollment in engineering and satisfactory performance in the first year.

Student Eligibility: Applicant must be an incoming freshman or transfer student admitted directly into an engineering program at UDM. Selection will be based on academic and leadership achievement. Terms: Two $500 scholarships will be awarded each year. Scholarship may be renewed for one additional year if a 3.0 GPA is maintained and student remains in the engineering program.

To qualify, you must be a woman and have COMPLETED at least your first year in architecture; landscape architecture; civil, structural, mechanical or electrical engineering as related to architecture; urban and land planning; interior design; environmental design or architectural rendering and illustration. You must be attending a California school or be a California resident attending an out-of-state school. You must be enrolled for the ensuing year. A maximum of ten students will be chosen as finalists. They MUST APPEAR, at their own expense, for a mandatory interview in Los Angeles.

These awards are presented to students entering engineering. Preference is given to electrical, industrial and mechanical engineering majors. Recipients must be U.S. citizens. All SWE scholarships are open only to women majoring in engineering or computer science in a college or university with an ABET-accredited program or in a SWE-approved school, and who will be in a specified year of study during the academic year the grant payment is made. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.5/4.0 or above.

It is awarded to an active SWE Student Member in her sophomore, junior or senior year, majoring in chemical, architectural, electrical, environmental or mechanical engineering. All SWE scholarships are open only to women majoring in engineering or computer science in a college or university with an ABET-accredited program or in a SWE-approved school, and who will be in a specified year of study during the academic year the grant payment is made. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0/4.0 or above.

These scholarships were awarded for the first time in 1995. Scholarships are presented to entering sophomore or junior women majoring in electrical engineering or computer science. The minimum GPA requirement is 3.5/4.0. All SWE scholarships are open only to women majoring in engineering or computer science in a college or university with an ABET-accredited program or in a SWE-approved school, and who will be in a specified year of study during the academic year the grant payment is made.

Awarded to entering juniors and seniors majoring in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or mechanical engineering who demonstrate financial need. All SWE scholarships are open only to women majoring in engineering or computer science in a college or university with an ABET-accredited program or in a SWE-approved school, and who will be in a specified year of study during the academic year the grant payment is made. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0/4.0 or above.
