Economic Club Business Study Abroad Scholarship
The Economic Club of Grand Rapids established a fund in 2000 to provide financial assistance to students pursuing study abroad in business. The Economic Club is an association of individuals interested in and contributing to the growing economic health of the Grand Rapids metropolitan area. One (or more) scholarships of up to $2000 will be awarded annually. The applicant must meet the following criteria:
• Applicant must have sophomore or above standing at the time of application in an undergraduate business program or in a
graduate level business program at any public college or university of their choice. Applicant must have a declared major in
accounting, business administration, economics, managerial science (all areas), mathematics, computer science,
engineering, marketing, or fields of study related to business or economics.
• Applicant must have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
• Applicant must be a resident of Kent, Allegan, Ottawa, or Muskegon counties for the prior three years or must be a resident
student at a public college or university in the West Michigan area for the prior two years or more consecutively.
• Foreign study programs must be endorsed and accepted as a part of or as a credit course in the applicant's degree granting
college or university. Funds must be administered through the home college/university financial aid office.
• The recipient may be asked to deliver a brief oral presentation to the Economic Club of Grand Rapids within six months
of return to the United States.
Barbara Thomas Enterprises, Inc.
A. All Applicants: (1) Applicant must be a member of AHIMA (2) Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 (out of 4.0) or 3.5 (out of 5.0) or higher. (3) Applicant must be a full-time student (4) Applicant must be a citizen of the United States or its territories (5) An Independent Study Program student is not eligible for the loan or graduate scholarships. B. Undergraduate Scholarships: (1) Applicant must be accepted for admission to a program for health information management (HIM) or technology (HIT) accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). (2) Applicant must be accepted for admission to the Independent Study Program of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and have successfully completed three modules. C. Graduate Scholarships: (1) Applicant must be a credentialed HIM professional (RHIA, RHIT, or CCS) and hold a bachelor's degree. (2) Applicant must be enrolled in a college or university accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting agency. (3) Applicant must be an active or associate member of AHIMA AND (4) Applicant must be pursuing, at a minimum, a master's degree in a program related to HIM (computer science, business management, education, public health, etc.)
FORE Scholarship
A. All Applicants: (1) Applicant must be a member of AHIMA (2) Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 (out of 4.0) or 3.5 (out of 5.0) or higher. (3) Applicant must be a full-time student (4) Applicant must be a citizen of the United States or its territories (5) An Independent Study Program student is not eligible for the loan or graduate scholarships. (2) Applicant must be enrolled in a college or university accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting agency. Aspen Systems

B.J. Harrod Scholarships
These scholarships were awarded for the first time in 1999 to honor the dedication and accomplishments of SWE's Managing Director from 1984 to 1995. The awards are made to freshmen students majoring in engineering or computer science. All SWE scholarships are open only to women majoring in engineering or computer science in a college or university with an ABET-accredited program or in a SWE-approved school, and who will be in a specified year of study during the academic year the grant payment is made. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.5/4.0 or above.
Dorothy M. & Earl S. Hoffman Scholarship
These scholarships, renewable for three years, were awarded for the first time in 1999 to engineering majors. Preference is given to Bucknell University and Rensselar Polytechnic Institute students. All SWE scholarships are open only to women majoring in engineering or computer science in a college or university with an ABET-accredited program or in a SWE-approved school, and who will be in a specified year of study during the academic year the grant payment is made. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0/4.0 or above.
