Here are some of the Aviation scholarships on our site for which you may qualify.

NATA Business Scholarship

NATA is dedicated to promoting safety, professionalism, education and training as a means for individuals to advance their careers. The annual NATA Business Scholarship Award in the amount of $2,500 is to be used for continuing education for employees of NATA member companies. All applicable studies should be directly related to furthering the skills applicable to working at an FBO, charter company maintenance facility or flight school.Applicable training includes any aviation maintenance program under the aegis of Part 147 or 65; any pilot certificate or rating under Part 61 or 141; and any aviation-related two-year, four-year or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university. In addition, the NATA Strategic Management for Aviation Service Firms, held yearly at the Transportation Center/Northwestern University, qualifies for applicable training.EligibilityApplicants must: * Be 18 years of age or older. * Be nominated and endorsed by a representative of a Regular or Associate Member Company of the NATA. Possess a Student Pilot certificate (or higher), with a third-class medical certificate, if applying for pilot certificates or ratings. * Demonstrate a commitment to general aviation.DeadlineScholarship applications are due to the NATF on or before the last Friday in December each year.

Pioneers of Flight Scholarship Program

NATF – the research and educational arm of the National Air Transportation Association – established the Pioneers of Flight Scholarship Program in 1989 to offer financial assistance and encouragement to young people in the pursuit of academic excellence. By making scholarship grants available, NATF's ultimate goal is to foster and promote careers in the general aviation industry.The program is administered by the University Aviation Association (UAA), a professional organization representing all non-technical levels in collegiate aviation education. UAA will screen all scholarship applications, make the initial selections and provide a list of candidates to NATF without regard to race, color, creed, religion, gender, disability or national origin.The Pioneers of Flight Scholarship Program is monitored by NATF, who will make the final selection from the list of semifinalists provided by UAA. The scholarship awards will be announced each year during NATA's annual spring convention.EligibilityApplicants to the Pioneers of Flight Scholarship Program shall: * Be college students in their sophomore or junior year at the time of application who are pursuing full-time study at an accredited four-year college or university. * Demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in general aviation.AwardsPioneers of Flight scholarships are in the amount of $1,000 for one year of full-time study. Two awards will be granted each year. Awards are given for undergraduate study only. Scholarship recipients may be offered internship opportunities.ApplicationInterested students must complete the application and submit it along with a complete transcript of grades, a letter of recommendation, an essay on general aviation and a paper indicating career goals in general aviation postmarked no later than the last Friday in December.Applicants are responsible for gathering and submitting all necessary information. Applications are evaluated on the information supplied; therefore, it is important to answer all questions as completely as possible.

National Aviation Explorer Scholarships

National Aviation Exploring Committee awards General Aviation scholarships to recognize excellence among Aviation Explorers studying the technologies and the skills needed in the field of aviation. The sponsors that provide the scholarships are committed to aviation’s future leadership. Applicant’s description of their personal record should show that they can successfully complete the aviation career educational activity for which they are requesting the scholarship. Also their personal record should show their involvement in life skills, citizenship, leadership, and character education experiences that add to the quality of life. Deadlines: Aviation Explorer applications are due in the local council office for approval by March 31st of each year. Council approved aviation Explorer applications are due in the National LFL Office by May 1st of each year. Scholarships will be awarded each year by July 1st Qualifications 1. Currently registered and active in an aviation Explorer post 2. Parent or guardian approval if under 18 years of age 3. Three letters of recommendation (i.e. aviation post Advisor, aviation professional, teacher, employer, community leader, etc.) 4. 500 word educational plan showing how you are going to finance your goal for a career in aviation. Degree Leading to an Aviation Profession (Scholarship value $10,000) Awarded to an Aviation Explorer accepted or attending an accredited college or university in pursuit of a degree leading to an aviation profession. Provide a copy of your high school or college transcript. Avionics (Scholarship value $3,000) Awarded to an Aviation Explorer high school seniors or college students who plan to or are attending an accredited school in an avionics repair program. Pilot (Pilot Certificate) (Scholarship value $3,000) Awarded to an Aviation Explorer pursuing their recreational or private pilot certificate (any type aircraft) and are not restricted to those pursuing a career in aviation. Flight training must be completed within one year. Candidates are judged on the strength of their essay stating their plan for a career in aviation, evidence of satisfactory initial flight training, and performance history in education and/or work, volunteerism, financial need. Maintenance (Scholarship value $3,000) Awarded to an Aviation Explorer high school seniors or college students who plan to or are attending an accredited school in an aircraft repair program. Management (Scholarship value $3,000) Awarded to an Aviation Explorer student in an aviation management program (to include design, engineering, airport management, etc.) at an accredited college or university.

Mick Schier Memorial Scholarship

Established by family and friends of Mick Schier who loved flying and who shared his love with others.Eligibility: To offset tuition costs of anyone in the area attending anaccredited flight school. Applicants must have completed ground school.Application: Contact the Marshfield Area Community Foundation for application information.Deadline: Open-ended.

Women Soar Scholarship for Innovation

Dr. Lori M. Fussell and Jerry Fussell are offering a $1,000 scholarship for the selected candidate’s pursuit of a college degree with the goal of empowering women to help solve the technology problems of the future through access to education in the sciences, engineering or aviation. The funds may only be used for academic pursuit and will be awarded directly to the candidate’s school of choice to support tuition expenses or other costs of attendance. The formal scholarship award will be made as part of the Women Soar award ceremony.Selection criteria: Applicant must be a high school junior or senior at the time of the award. Applicants will submit a fact-based technical paper of at least 1,500 words on the subject of the environmental impact of aviation, summarizing the current issue and impact and discuss potential technological solutions to reduce the impact on the environment. (60% of evaluation). Applicants will also provide a brief synopsis of their current accomplishments at the high school level, including GPA for two years, major focus of studies and description of extra-curricular activities. (20% of evaluation). Applicants will also provide a written description of their plans for the future, highlighting colleges of interest, professional aspirations following graduation, and their specific focus and passion for becoming one of society’s innovators. J. Andrew Garratt Memorial Scholarship

Provides $500 (or more) to support young women’s attendance at an EAA Air Academy session or supports participation in other EAA education offerings. Provided by two-time "Earthrounder" CarolAnn Garratt in tribute to her brother, Andy. Special considerations: Females preferred; superior academic achievement is emphasized with at least a 3.0 GPA required for high school courses.

Dean William Carson Air Academy Scholarship

Provides from 50% to full tuition to attend an EAA Air Academy session. This scholarship is established by the Carson Family in memory of Dean William Carson, a dedicated pilot who was passionate about life, his family, and who was a proud EAA Young Eagles pilot. Special considerations: Residents of Southern California preferred; age 14 – 18, serious intent to pursue aviation related studies beyond high school; 2.0 minimum GPA.

Imagine America High School Scholarship

The Imagine America Foundation created its Imagine America High School Scholarship Program in 1998 to help provide scholarships for high school students. This annual scholarship program has helped thousands of high school seniors afford a career education at hundreds of career schools across the United States. Each year, every high school in the United States and Puerto Rico may nominate up to five graduating seniors to receive a $1,000 Imagine America scholarship!

United Parcel Service 757 Type Rating Scholarship

Minimum Requirements 1. Applicant must be a dues-current member of OBAP. 2. Have a minimum of 1500 hours total fixedwing pilot time. 3. Have a minimum of 1000 hours pilot in command (PIC) in fixed wing jet and/or fixed wing multi-engine turboprop.* 4. Applicant must submit a current resume. 5. Applicant must submit two (2) "Letters of Recommendation." 6. Applicant must currently have a FAA First Class Medical Certificate, and have authorization to study in the United States. 7. Submit a one page essay stating your interest in the Type Rating Scholarship.*Pilot in Command, per FAR 1.1, means the person who has final authority and responsibility for the operation and safety of the flight; has been designated as the pilot in command before or during the flight; holds the appropriate category, class and type rating, if appropriate for the conduct of the flight.UPS reserves the right to amend, suspend, rescind or terminate the scholarship for any reason after it has been awarded.

Edward Horne Scholarship

Minimum Requirements 1. Applicant must be a dues current member of OBAP. 2. Applicant must provide a letter verifying that he/she participated in at least one OBAP event. 3. Applicant must possess a current Private Pilotʼs license and be able to provide a copy. 4. Applicant must submit an essay of no more than 1000 words that details their greatest life challenge. 5. Applicant must submit a current resume and photograph. 6. Applicant must submit two (2) "Letters of Recommendation" with one from a dues current OBAP member. 7. Applicant must provide a copy of his/her medical permit.The $5000 award must be applied toward an advance rating

OBAP General Scholarship

Minimum Requirements Applicants must meet the following requirements: 1. Applicant must be a dues current member of OBAP. 2. Applicant must provide a letter verifying that he/she participated in at least one OBAP event. 3. Applicant must possess and be able to provide a copy of a current Private Pilot's license. 4. Applicant must complete an essay on "What is/or has been your greatest life challenge, and how has it enriched your and/or someone else's life?" 5. Applicant must submit a current resume. 6. Applicant must submit two (2) "Letters of Recommendation" with one from a dues current OBAP member. 7. Applicant must provide a copy of his/her medical permit. 8. Applicant must write and submit a two (2)-page autobiography, which will include a recently taken photograph.

Johnny Davis Memorial Scholarship

The scholarship is available to high school seniors and/or college students who plan to or are attending an accredited school in an avionics or aircraft repair program. Scholarships are awarded without regard to sex, race, creed, religion, age or country of origin. All scholarships are based on merit with restrictions. Scholarship applicants must have at least a 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 point scale) to apply for a scholarship. Selection factors include expression of mechanical ability, aviation interests, class attendance, motivation, technical aptitude, scholastic record, responsibility, and commitment to the aviation industry. Scholarships do not apply to pilot training, instrument ratings, or air traffic control programs.
