Aviation Scholarships

Here are some of the Aviation scholarships on our site for which you may qualify.

McAllister Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must meet the following criteria: 1. Be a U.S. citizen. 2. Be of junior or senior standing at the time the application is submitted with at least one semester/quarter to be completed after September 1. 3. Have achieved academic proficiency (grade point average) at time of application of 3.25 or better (on a 4.0 system). 4. Be enrolled in a baccalaureate level, non-engineering aviation degree program at a four-year institution and plan to continue the following year (community college students are eligible when they have transferred to a four-year insititution). The applicant's college must be listed as an organization described in section 170(c) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954. 5. Submit a 250-word maximum typed, double-spaced paper on What three factors would you address in improving general aviation safety? Be realistic in your expectations. Consider time, human learning, resistance to change, regulations, and economic impact. 6. Application must be accompanied by an official transcript from applicant's college or university. The Registrar's Office can mail your official transcript to the below address or place in a sealed envelope so you can mail with your application form.

Donald Burnside Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must meet the following criteria: 1. Be a U.S. citizen. 2. Be of senior standing at the time the application is submitted with at least one semester/quarter to be completed after September 1. 3. Have achieved academic proficiency (grade point average) at time of application of 3.25 or better (on a 4.0 system). 4. Be enrolled in a baccalaureate level, non-engineering aviation degree program at a four-year institution and plan to continue the following year (community college students are eligible when they have transferred to a four-year insititution). The applicant's college must be listed as an organization described in section 170(c) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954. 5. Your suggestions should take into account the real world factor of time and financial realities. 6. Application must be accompanied by an official transcript from applicant's college or university. Western Union Foundation Global Scholarship Program

The Western Union Foundation Global Scholarship Program (WU Scholars) is a program designed to support young people and their efforts to pursue a post-secondary education. Selected scholarship recipients will receive USD $2,500 each to contribute toward tuition or school fees at an accredited post-secondary institution and will be selected based on criteria relating to the program's three pillars: Perseverance, Aspiration, and Community. To be eligible, students must be seeking an undergraduate degree in one of the following categories: science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and business/entrepreneurship. The application, which requires a letter of recommendation and an academic transcript, opens Wednesday March 8th. The application deadline is Wednesday, April 12 at noon Eastern Standard Time. Harrison Ford Education Scholarship Challenge

Newly established fund established by Jim and Angela Thompson, this scholarship will enable young people of all backgrounds to apply for support to help them pursue their aviation interests. Donations to this fund will be matched by the Thompsons up to $100,000. It is their hope that EAA members and friends will support this goal, building a $200,000 scholarship fund in Harrison Ford’s name, honoring his five year commitment and service as EAA’s Young Eagles National Chairman. During his tenure as national leader of Young Eagles, awareness for the program soared as nearly 500,000 young people became Young Eagles.The fund will provide assistance to young people seeking to take their FAA written pilot’s exam (after completing EAA’s free online ground school training), take their first formal flying lesson, attend EAA Air Academy residential aviation camp, secure support to obtain their sport pilot’s license or further their passion and interest in aviation through tuition support, enabling them to pursue post secondary education at an institution of their choice.

NDSEG Fellowship Program

The NDSEG Fellowship Program is open only to applicants who are citizens or nationals of the United States. Persons who hold permanent resident status are not eligible to apply. NDSEG Fellowships are intended for students at or near the beginning of their graduate studies in science or engineering. Applicants must receive or be on track to receive their baccalaureate degrees by the upcoming Fall. Preference to applicants pursuing doctoral study and research in aeronautical and astronautical engineering, biosciences (including toxicology), chemical engineering, chemistry, cognitive, neural and behavioral sciences, computer science, electrical engineering, geosciences, materials science and engineering, mathematics, mechanical engineering, naval architecture and ocean engineering, oceanography, and physics (includes optics). Recommended GPA is 3.0 and higher. Applications are encouraged from women, persons with disabilities and minorities, including ethnic minority groups such as American Indian, Black, Hispanic, Native Alaskan (Eskimo or Aleut) or Pacific Islander (Polynesian or Micronesian). NDSEG Fellows may choose as their fellowship institutions appropriate United States institutions of higher education offering advanced degrees in science or engineering. During part of their tenure, fellows may study or engage in research or field work away from their academic institutions if, in the judgment of the faculty, such arrangements further the fellow's education and contribute directly to the attainment of an advanced degree, and the fellow is officially enrolled and earning academic credit.

Teledyne Continental Aviation Excellence Schp

Awarded to an individual displaying the potential to become a professional in any field of aviation. Must major in aviation-related studies.

EAA Aviation Achievement Scholarships

Awarded to individuals active in sport aviation endeavors to further their education or training. Must major in aviation-related studies.

Herbert L. Cox Memorial Scholarship

One $500 scholarship for a student pursuing a degree leading to an aviation profession who can show unmet financial need for educational expenses.

Richard Lee Vernon Aviation Scholarship

One $500 scholarship awarded to a person in a professional aviation training program in an institute of higher learning or aviation technical school. Recipient must show need for financial support.

APS Upset Prevention & Recovery Training Scholarship

APS, the global leader in Upset Prevention & Recovery Training (UPRT), awards an annual scholarship to a current student or recent graduate of an Aviation College or University Aerospace program. The scholarship is for one 3-day Professional Pilot Upset Training Course, which includes 4 flights covering 5 missions. This course involves intense ground and on-aircraft training focused on mitigating the risk of Loss of Control In-flight (LOC-I), and the skills learned benefit pilots and those who fly with them throughout their careers, helping them bring everyone home safely.

Doris Mullen Scholarship

A $4,500 scholarship is awarded to a Whirly-Girl in good standing toward an advanced helicopter rating.

Whirly-Girls Helicopter Flight Training Schp

A $4,500 scholarship is available to assist a rated woman pilot in earning her helicopter add-on rating. Applications are evaluated for evidence of financial need and intent to work in the helicopter industry.
