The J.T. – Minnie Maude Charitable Trust (“Trust”) was founded to provide financial assistance for the pursuit of higher education to deserving U.S. citizens who currently reside in and who have resided in the Virginia counties of Halifax, Henry, Pittsylvania and the North Carolina counties of Caswell and Rockingham (including all towns or cities located within these 5 counties), for a minimum of twelve consecutive months at the time of application. The scholarship selection committee reserves the right to determine residency.Scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of academic achievement and promise, financial need, and other related selection criteria. Award amounts will vary, up to and including a possible full scholarship.Recipients may attend any accredited public or private, two or more year college or university, or an institution offering a one year certificate degree. Payments will be made directly to the educational institution of enrollment.Scholarships will be awarded on an objective and non-discriminatory basis, without regard to race, color, religion, age, national origin, gender or disability. Description:Established to provide financial assistance for college to seniors graduating from high schools in Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C. Eligibility:This program is open to high school seniors in WBOC TV 16’s viewing area (Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C.). Applicants must include a letter explaining how they achieved their accomplishments, how they are making ”A Difference through Leadership” in their school or community, and what they hope to achieve for themselves and others by pursuing higher education. In addition to that letter, selection is based on leadership qualities, school and community involvement, grades, and SAT scores; financial need is not considered.

The Marie A. Dornhecker Foundation is offering scholarships for the purpose of promoting the study of the French language and culture in Virginia. Applications are currently being accepted and will be considered for one of up to twenty (20) grants, not exceeding two thousand dollar ($2,000.00) per grant, to be awarded for the upcoming academic year. Applicants must be Virginia residents having a permanent address within the Hampton Roads area, and are either graduating high school seniors entering an accredited college or university in the Fall or current full-time students enrolled and registered in an accredited college or university. Applications will be evaluated based on the applicant’s past academic performance, financial need, and the ability to communicate through a scholarly essay to be submitted with the application.

Trade School Future is an organization dedicated to helping future mechanics reach their full potential. Our country needs skilled automotive workers and we want to help. Each semester, we’ll be awarding grants of various amounts to students who plan on attending a trade or vocational school with the aim of becoming a mechanic. This scholarship is open to any prospective student in the United States who plans to enroll in a trade or vocational school, 2 or 4 year university, accredited community college or other automotive higher education institution within the next 12 months. The applicant must complete a short essay (500 words or less) detailing why they are pursuing an automotive degree. The applicant must provide a phone number and email address for correspondence about the grant award selection process. The Future Mechanic Grant for the Fall/Winter Semester is a one-time financial gift of $1,000. The grant will be awarded to the applicant who best answers the application criteria, including the short essay. The award funds may be applied to any expenses associated with pursuing an automotive degree or certification. This is a one-time financial gift and does not need to be paid back to Trade School Future.

AFCEA DC awards multiple single-year standard scholarships in the amount of $4,000 each, and one single-year scholarship in the amount of $8,000 to Metro-area high school seniors in the Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia and Maryland area. Second-year students in area community colleges who are entering a four-year college may apply for one-time scholarships of $2,000. Scholarship awards are provided to qualified students pursuing degrees in the C4I-related fields of engineering (electrical, computer, chemical, aerospace or systems); electronics; mathematics; computer science; physics; science education; mathematics education; technology management; or management information systems.
