The Kathy Ryan Rural Fire and Rescue Endowment The Kathy Ryan Rural Fire and Rescue Endowment will provide a scholarship(s) to fire or rescue personnel or volunteers in the rural Texas Panhandle to attend or obtain training and/or education in fire fighting and/or rescue.
Applicants must be a current member, volunteer, or employee of a recognized fire and/or rescue organization in the rural Texas Panhandle (defined as the northernmost 24 counties in northwest Texas, excluding Potter and Randall Counties). A specialized application will be used, which will be due in the office of the Amarillo Area Foundation by December 1 of each year for the award to be announced on March 12 of the following year.Jack B. Eligibility
• Graduating seniors from high schools located in the 26 northernmost counties of the Texas Panhandle who are currently employed at a restaurant
• Must have 2.5 GPA to be eligible to apply
• Must provide an additional letter of recommendation from current restaurant employer to validate employment
• Attend any accredited college/university
• Preference given to students who plan to major in the field of culinary arts, restaurant management, or a related field

• Maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA while in college
• Special consideration will be given to applicants whose recommendation letters indicate specific ability or potential which may not be reflected in the GPA
• Major in field of choice at Amarillo College or West Texas A&M University
